Can someone explain how raise/lower the top?

Picked up an 06 from my mother last night and she could get the top to go down. We latched the board thing in the trunk, undid the D ring inside but nothing happens when the button is pushed.

Any ideas. I only drove the car home last night. My wife took the car to work and wonders how to get the top down.

Well, we need a little more to go on than that.

When you unlatch the top, do the windows go down?
Does the light in the button light up when you unlatch the top and push it up away from the frame?
Do you get any beeps when you press the button?

The answers to these questions set us on a direction...

It works just fine. Guess we weren't holding the button as one has to keep pushing it through the whole operation.

I have lots to learn about this car.
