Default Soon to be new owner

Hello,

I've been jealousy living through you all for a while now and finally decided to look for my very own. Today, I test drove an '08 Roadster, 58K mi. A beauty!! I am hoping to get the insight and knowledge from all of you veteran owners. The weather stripping where the convertible top meets the car (kinda u shaped. I guess that's it) was made of what looks like black tape and one section is not lying flat. It has creases or bunches in it (several, together of about 8 inches of space). When I asked about it, the salesman said that he thought it was a natural wear or from the top rubbing it. So, when I got home, I took a closer look at a friend's Audi that is also a convertible- no bunching and it was made of rubber. Is tape the right material? Is creasing or bunching normal? I wish I'd taken a picture. The car is about three hours away, so I won't be able to get one soon, so I'd really appreciate any insight that you can provide.

Ah.. the infamous black strip on the tonneau cover .. Several members have just pealed that off and polished out. Doesn't hurt anything to do that.. you could probably find some post on it if you wanted to use the search feature here..
