I have just bought a beautiful 2005 blaze red roadster. It was totally misrepresented on an auction site but I love the car. It has issues that local repair shops in my small town are not equipped to handle mainly convertible top operation and electrical issues. Does anyone have a name of a repairman that could handle these issues located any where in the midwest. Thanks bgergw

Also the rear spoiler does not operate as it should so I disconnected it.

 

The car was not flooded was it? Yank the trim out of the trunk, is there water damage to the electronic modules in the rear wheel wells? Are there signs of water intrusion under the carpet/trim in the trunk?
If so, you have a long but not impossible road to restoring the car to where it should be.

The top not doing anything can be as simple as the switch in the frame (over the passenger's head) or the divider switch in the trunk not closing. When you unlatch the top from the frame, the light in the top switch should come on, if it does not light, I'd bet you have water damage in the trunk. If the light does come on and you press the button, you should get a warning beep OR the top should start moving. If you get no light in the switch and/or no warning beep, my money, again, is on water damage in the trunk.

The spoiler not acting right can be a bad wheel speed sensor, weak battery, corroded battery terminals, issues with the Body Control module, water damage to the pump/security module in the passenger side rear wheel well, etc.

But it does not sound like you want help fixing it, it sounds like you want someone to just fix it, that is, you want to take the car, drop it off and pick it up a week or month later and have it all fixed. If so, you are going to spend a lot of money on it and probably never get it going. We have a lady school teacher here that has been able to get one of her water-damaged cars going, but she did it herself, took many, many hours and a not-too-bad amount of money. But at $90 or more an hour, you don't want to be paying someone to fix a water damaged car - get in there and find out if there is water damage, if not, fixing this car should be easy. If it is water damaged, the path forward is going to be a lot more complex.

 

Someone could sue me for saying the words mechanically inclined.
I am retired and stage four cancer patient. Currently cancer free. But wanted this car to use to teach my grandson how to drive. I thought that would be something we both would really like.
I think you are the videographer whom is watched by xfire owners when (not if) their top goes bad.
I will try the fix it myself with your instructions.

To some extent, if you are asking about removing the trim - yes, I think Andy or Paul did write about that. BUT -- The procedure to remove the trim is rather easy - go to Autozone and get a "rivet puller" for those plastic fasteners and start taking them out. I'ts NOT hard, just start taking them out and the trim and carpet will come out easily.

Once you can SEE what you have, we will konw what direction to go with this. The first question I have is: "Is there water damage in the trunk?" Once we know that answer, we can know what to focus effort on.

 

Signs of corrosion. Looking at bracket that hold the convertible top module.
Also the hydraulic fluid tank is almost empty. Hydraulic fluid is hydraulic fluid?
I couldnt find any particular specs for the fluid.
I am not sure if the divider actually engages the switch that tell the system if divider is locked into place.

OK. It is a flood car. Since I bought it have had to put in a new engine. Top wont work. Spoiler wont work. And I am ok with all that because I love the car. Most fun car I have ever owned. BUT the damned beeping
is about to drive me crazy. I have had it to 3 repair shops and get 3 different opinions and no positive results. I have done the steps to kill the seat belt as stated in 165000 questions section. One shop said probably
has something to do with the trunk not closing. so i replaced the locking mechanism still beeps. Another shop says probably something to do with the top. Maybe right but dont know what to do about that.
I see a post that addresses the "siren" that is located under the windshield wipers. Is this siren the maker of all beeping sounds? If so can I take it out?
Not going to worry about top or spoiler till winter.

 

The siren is not the maker of beeps, but yes you can unplug it with no ill effects.

 

Where is the noise maker located and can i disable it?
