New Member Old Owner
I own a black 04 Crossfire coupe, stick of course with very low mileage (40.000). I bought it in PA new and only drove it in good weather. I live in Vegas now and for whatever reason I've kind of kept to the same driving schedule. I take it to Frank's European here who has Mercedes trained mechanics. In PA I took it to a Chrysler dealership that took care of about four Crossfires so they were pretty much up on them. Here I thought go to someone trained to work on the Mercedes innards. Love the car and still always get comments. Why they stopped making them I don't know.. Anyway, hi all.
Hello and welcome.
Answer to your question...final writeoff on the Crossfire program...a LOSS of $125000 on EVERY crossfire made.
I had Chrysler Maserati TC's before the Crossfire.
After the Maserati program...a loss of $112000 on every TC made..I said they will never do THAT again.
The next person who says Chrysler needs a two seat car produced overseas should be DOA.
Take that as a warning PSA..FCA's new owner.
Also...the Crossfire was the LAST vehicle made by Karmann. They lost so much on the program they could not survive.

What KILLED them both times was the exchange rate. It was semi favorable when the projects were in development, but when it came time to produce cars AND ship them...the blood bath began. The TC cost less to produce because under the skin it was a 1987 Shelby Daytona. Except for the horrible Teves brake system. The one most costly system on the car. Under the Crossfire you still have the cost of a Mercedes.
