Found this red switch under the the steering wheel
while cleaning my car, I’ve only had my crossfire for about six months, so I don’t know what this is flipped a couple times but didn’t notice anything, any ideas?
Re: Was cleaning my car today and found red switch?
Did you try running the engine and then flipping the switch? As m60a3driver says it may be a security kill switch. I'm betting on an accessory switch for "who kows what!"
Re: Was cleaning my car today and found red switch?
FWIW - I have an aftermarket radio/CD/DVD unit installed with a flip up screen in one of my Crossfires. As a safety feature the unit will not play a DVD while driving - makes sense. It will only play a DVD if the emergency brake is applied. Although, you can bypass this safety feature if you install a switch similar to the one the OP posted that fools the unit thinking the e-brake has been applied. For those curious, no I do not watch DVD's while driving, although it's a nice option to have.

I know some people have had a switch like that installed to manually turn on the engine cooling fan to high speed to help keep coolant temps lower while idling in traffic in extreme hot weather.
I have one like that in nearly the same place.
If that is what it is you will only hear the fan on if the ignition is ON or when the car is idling.

Which I refer to as the "Instant Cool" mod. Makes A/C colder when sitting in traffic.

Could be used to cancel the automatic rear spoiler function if Your XF is not an SRT6 . . .

Hello and welcome to the forum! OK, MY guess is a set of under car running lights. Lets all keep this going until a tracing of the wiring is finished. Oh, some help, IF you do trace it, the wiring diagram in the service manual (Free download here in the forum) can help with the color code of the wiring IF it is spliced into the harness (it may not be connected). There, anyone else? LOL

Be very careful with this switch, A friend of mine installed a similar pitch . He had wired a transformer into the passenger electric seat , Whe turned on the person in the seat got a huge shock instead of heat . He named it the YAP switch,When there was too much negative chatter ion the passenger seat He turned it on. He said it worked fine???
