Default Got me a '04 XF

Hi folks, greetings from Ontario, Canada. I recently acquired a '04 XF with about 104k kms. As is required here in Ontario, before we can register the vehicle, we need to bring to accredited shop for safety certification. Well, the shop just told me it needs some brake work, right tie-rod, headlights will require polishing (too cloudy) and if that doesn't work----will need new headlight assemblies (good luck to me!). And to top it all, the transmission oil cooler line will need replacement. I've looked around (and the shop is trying as well) but can't seem to find any available. It seems the part has been discontinued. I won't stop looking around as I really like the car. Like it so much that I even bought 4 brand new tires for it! Anyways, wish me luck...so glad to have found this forum.

Cheers.

Congratulations on your Crossfire!
If you're mechanically inclined, I've done a lot of work on my 2006 Crossfire. Everything I have done I have documented with detailed pictures with descriptions. LINK - My Journey with my 2006 roadster All of the links are on the bottom of the first page. (Brakes, Brake hoses, Clearing headlights, etc...)
Anything else would be located in the Technical Section of the forums.
I have a manual transmission, a couple of suggestions for the oil cooler line are; get in touch with Rob at Needswings he might be able to locate one for you. You can also check salvage yards or ebay.
Search for mechanical parts as a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 320.
Best of luck to you!

You can also have hydraulic lines made.

You will need to refurbish the headlights. There are many brands of kits available or can be done professionally. New headlights are rare to find. Used ones are usually in need of refurbishing and expensive.

Thanks so much, I sent message to Rob at Needswings and hope to hear from him. I will read up on the links you provided and learn more about this car. Appreciate the help. Cheers.

Thanks, the shop was able to polish the headlights and the "cloudiness" is gone and now able to satisfy the safety certificate requirement.

Just got the car back from the shop with Safety Certificate on hand and now able to finalize registration. Geesh, I need to sell a kidney...between the shop work and 4 brand new tires (Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus), my wallet is a lot lighter . Once that transmission oil cooler line problem gets resolved, I am off to some long, Fall driving.

Thanks folks.
