Ironically.. more time has been wasted complaining than it takes to read the thread..

Go figure.

being older...don't rule out an older bike... the old enduro's are becoming collectors and will still get you around. But, won't be as dependable as a new liquid cooled dirt bike. There are all kinds of bikes in the mid-range off-road catagory. I rebuilt an old Harley Fatboy for tooling around. Chromed her out, did a little modding in the motor, not much... Nice old dependable street bike that looks good. So, again, don't rule out an older ride and save some $$$$$.

Alright doc, Ill make sure to keep my eye out for some of the older enduro's, thanks.

Harley's are a little big for me, except the sportster's... I went and looked at a 1200 the other day just to see how I fit. It was big but the 883 would probably fit very nicely.

2000 Model Sportster 1200C myself.. Lowered 1" with progressive shocks..much better than stock! 883 might be right up your ally as the 1200 likes 91 octane juice while the 883 is happy with 87. And later if you decide you want more juice you can always do a 1200 kit like a lot of owners do.

Oh and if the Sportster fits .. your probably like me on "fit".. don't throw a leg over a Heritage.. LOL.

I have a 93' Kawasaki KLX650C (not to be confused with the KLR). They were offered for only a few years and came with a teal green frame and black plastic and later with a purple frame and red plastic. Could never understand the color scheme for such a versatile bike - but I stripped mine down and powder coated the frame and experimented with an Acerbis plastic tank before going back to the OEM steel tank and plastic farings..

If you can get your hands on one - most of the engine/ tranny parts are compatible with the KLX650R (dirt version) and still sold today.

That Kawi looks really nice. Im going to look into those as well. Is there any adjustment on the seat height? I know kawi's are pretty dang tall from the factory usually.

The KLX650C is a pretty tall bike but you can pick-up lowering links for around $100. You'll need to adjust the shock/spring to a firmer setting - or ride real mild off-road to keep from bottoming out. I've never tried them but read about them on the bike forum.

the KLX650 family has lots of power and are real torque monsters - with easy speeds to 90MPH - but not a very comfortable long distance freeway bike - like most single cylinder bikes. But a great romp around town and hit a few dirt trails bike... and get great gas mileage.

I like the way the R6 looks by far. That and my dad has always been a yamaha guy... and thats crazy that they are that fast, how do they feel on the twisties?
The r6 is kinda top heavy in twisties with a lowering kit it's an entire different beast! I can't say I road much in the turns we did interstate pulls and dicked with the popo most of the time. I decided my life with all four limbs working and intact was more important than some " bad ***" stories of eluding and going 200mph. Laying a bike over changes your outlook a bit I will never own a rocket again I am looking for a 09 HD nightster though
