Why altitude sucks
So I went racing last friday, for the first street legal event at our drag strip. Tons of people, a lot of fun, but thought I would post my times for everybody. So I think I am the slowest "fast" crossfire. I enjoy racing and normally take my cobra because I dont like to beat up on the crossfire. Everyone that was in the stands that came to ask questions, asked me if I was really racing, or just trying to keep it close for the other cars, and that it seemed like I was sand bagging and wondered what my car could really do. If they only knew, I was running her wide open. Well, enough story telling, here are my times...
.620 Reaction on a .5 Tree
2.561 60 Foot
10.643 660 Foot
16.422 1320 Foot (1/4 mile)
85.55 Trap Speed

Your 60 foot times seem a bit high. Are you launching with traction control off? Are you heating up street tires or using slicks?
Some of the guys like Needswings should respond to this... they have WAY more experience at 1/4 mile than I do.
Cheers!

I had the traction controller off, and had a bit of torque "build up" as in foot on brake, foot starting to rev on the car when I launched. New street tires, not heated, but only squeeked them, no real spin. This is with my sprint booster, start of an exhaust system, and intake tubes taken off, k&n filters. Not sure what else to do other than the typical buy an SRT. She is faster then when I first bought her, especially with the sprint booster and exhaust.
Hey BC, check out TVT Designs, they have the most performance parts for normally aspirated Crossfires. A NeedsWings intake wouldn't hurt. Same goes for an ECU tune, especially if they have 93 octane gasoline where you live. There's more available from TVT, but I'm not well versed in it, as I have an SRT and wasn't paying close attention to the n/a stuff.
How tall are the tires you are running? If they are any taller than the factory tires, that will especially kill your short times, your speed seems off too. Maybe the other NA guys can help out with what they are running, but I'd guess that with your density altitude, you could be 1 second slower than a typical NA. Like you say, altitude sucks
Well, Bandimere Speedway's correction factor at 5830ft above sea level is .9276... I see Montrose is about 5780ft...so you're close enough to that.

That puts you at 15.233sec @ 92.16mph.

See, i thought i should have been closer to those marks, in the 15's. But maybe I have the slow crossfire of the group? lol Just didnt know what other people were running at altitude in their cars. I know it kills the times in my cobra. In arizona I run 11's and 12's, and up here I run 13's and 14's.
don't worry your running about what a crossfire should, I live close to you I live in Utah where our elevation is 4300ft, elevation KILLS your times, My crossfire ran a 15.9@87mph here and I have a 6 speed so take a half a second off because of your automatic and you come up with 16.4 so your really close to what you should be running

Well, I have a sport muffler versus no muffler, and the sprint booster so we are close for mods. I am going to try to take her to the track in the next few weeks, so maybe I can run some better numbers, we'll see.
