Default July 2023 Car starting issues – probably the RCM

I have a 2005 SRT6 with RCM updated for Mystery no Start by tighed1 with replaced Air Pump Relay and Me so Horny mod back in 2017.

My Problem: Key turn does not engage starter, but electronics work.

First: Sometimes will start and all is normal and sometimes “Mystery no Start”.

Second after a week: Sometimes will start with instrument cluster lights: Brake, ABS, BAS ESP, and Brake Wear. When this happens, I can not move the trans out of PARK.

Finally yesterday, after a normal start during driving the instrument cluster lights: Brake, ABS, BAS ESP, and Brake W come ON and the car goes into LIMP mode. After limping home, I can not longer start anymore. I checked for engine codes via ODB reader but found none (but that may be due to me disconnecting/reconnecting the battery a few times).

My best guess is maybe the RMC again, even though I already had the in updated in 2017. So maybe I purchase a spare RMC and try that out, what do you folks think?

Looks like Amazon has the Standard Motor Products RCM for $123:

Personally, I already have a spare, just in case.

SIX years and you think your RCM is NOT the problem? SIX years?
Put your spare in, I'd bet that will get you going. I bought a new RCM last fall AND sent my old one to DJ just because of this.
The fix he does is NOT permanent, the issue is the design, DJ does not re-design the module, he fixes what is wrong.

Directed to no one in particular:
I can't believe people have the idea that an RCM is guaranteed good once it is fixed. How can we communicate more effectively that there is a REASON that so many of us carry a spare?
I'ts a lousy $135, it gives you peace of mind AND protects you from all this trouble - why not carry one?

Back then I was only replacing the air pump relays. Now all of the relays (except horn, unless needed) are replaced because we know that they also go bad. That is what has happened here.
By the way, someone else has been working on that RCM.
Traction relay is failing. Email me at tighed1@hotmail.com for details on getting this refurbished.Send your RCM and $52 per RCM (includes return shipping in U.S.. Mention if outside of the US to get return shipping cost.) (cash, money order, check) to:
DJ TIGHE
SHIPPING TIP: USPS Flat Rate Small Box is about $10 and is the perfect size for one or two RCMs.

I'll inspect, bench test, redo bad solder joints, perform the Me So Horny mod (horn works w/o key) and replace the Air Pump, Fuel, Engine and Traction Control relays.

I will then test your RCM in one of my cars before mailing it back to you via USPS Priority Mail.

In most cases, I get the RCM back in the mail the day I receive it. Most folks get their RCM within a week of sending it.

Leave all fuses and plastic cover on RCM.

Let me know what symptoms the car had.

Please email your return shipping address to me also.

Folks, just want to follow up that a new RCM fixed the issue and I will be sending the old RCM to be re-worked by tighed1.
