Unhappy BAS ESP light stayes on.

The BAS ESP light stays on but the car functions properly.
1st, can I drive the car without causing a problem?
2nd, what do you suggest to correct the issue? I am a medium capable mechanical person.

What is the issue.

Start the car, turn the steering wheel all of the way to the left and then all of the way to the right and then back to center. Turn it off for a minute and start it up again. The light should be off. Be sure to go lock to lock on the steering.

I have a similar issues with warning lights. I've been searching the forum but have not found any posts with the conditions I'm experiencing.
I have an 05 Base Roadster, 6 speed.
My BAS ESP light is illuminated, along with the ABS and BRAKE lights on the far right. On the far left side, the Check Engine and Brake Wear Indicator lights are illuminated. The speedometer has stopped functioning. The spoiler light is blinking, and the spoiler remains deployed. Other than those few items, everything else seems to functioning correctly.

My first thought: The traction control relay on the RCM is bad, or the solder connection on the edge of the RCM that fees B+ to the traction control system is fractured/bad. If you had an automatic, it would be more obvious, because the car also would not shift from PARK.

Yank the RCM and send it to DJ in Arizona ($50-60) for rebuild or order a new one ($150-200) from FCP Euro, etc.

This thread shows you how to remove the RCM (No tools needed), the repairs described concentrate on OTHER failure modes of the RCM...

Thanks. I’ll try the RCM repair option.

Just for fun, I pulled fuse 5 on the RCM, (that's the Traction Control output of the RCM) on my car, just now.
I got the exact symptoms you have. I doubt your fuse is blown, I'm sure it's your RCM.

So your post encouraged me to yank the RCM from my car and get my head right on what fuse on teh RCM does what. I figured that out and realzed my ECR output pin was fractured, so I resoldered much of the contacts on the board and put it back in.

I also yanked my Fuse 5 to observe how I could create your symptoms. I got exactly what you had; all those lights, no speedometer and odometers froze.

So today, I took the car on it's first ride of 2021. I went around town to get oil and filter so I can do my once-a-year oil change. I got one mile from the house and lights came on and speedo/odometer all failed. I either didn't set the fuse back in all the way, or the relay happened to fail or....?

Once i get the oil changed, I'll tackle the odd problem. I guess my car has sympathy for yours.

Sorry, I don’t wish my symptoms on anyone.

Once i got the oil changed, it worked again. Obviously, my RCM's solder lands are fractured and while I reflowed a few, a few more still need attention.
I'm probably going to order a new RCM and send this one to DJ for overhaul, so I will have a spare.

I already carry a spare Bosch Crank sensor.
