Default ESP Button: On or off?

I leave my Electronic Stability Program on, but it seems too enthusiastic. If I whip around a corner at, say, 25 mph, it starts making rear end corrections that seem unnecessary. The owner's manual says leave it on, period. Your thoughts?

It's definitely annoying sometime when your trying to have a little fun... But one time this lady cut in front of me so I gassed it... I guess she didn't see me... When I was swinging around her so she didn't T-Bone me... I saw an electrical box on the side of the road and was coming towards it... the ground was kinda wet and muddy... I think if my traction wasn't on I may have a wrecked Crossfire... Might be best to lave it on at all times.

The ESP is on all the time and there is no way to turn it off. I think you are talking about the traction control system. Personally, I leave mine turned on all the time because that bright orange light that comes on when I turn it off really annoys me.

I usually shut it off when riding around town. Annoying as all hell when you're trying to pass someone quick, you hit a bump and the car bogs down.

Agreed, the light is annoying and any blivet in the road bogs the car down. Gotta love the old days when you were responsible for driving the car.

I usually keep it off in the dry.

Does the performance of the car change...acceleration etc...with the with the ESP off? Can you feel a difference...or is it only in extreme conditions?

it seems not needed in the non srt version... 190 hp to the floor through 255 tires and we need a computer to hold us back from doing some mad wheelies ? please with the srt-4 i am pushing over 260 to the floor through the front 225s and it seems plenty controlled...

i rather enjoy the sliding that occurs when traction is off and you take a corner sharp and dip the throttle on the way out of the corner... i wonder how different it would be with no esp...

Accelleration is not affected, the system computer applies breaking pressure to the drive wheels when it senses one wheel is losing traction in relation to the other. It prevents you from doing power slides around corners and spinning the car when you're not expecting it.

Great for the everyday driver... Not good if you're running the car on a road racing course...

I paid a whole lotta money for that little blinky light - I'll be damned if I don't get my money's worth, I hit it at least six or seven times on my way home. Fortunately I don't drive any other sports cars regularly - I'd probably ball-em up. I just hammer it until the car says 'no'.
