Default headlight covers

i recently had to replace my right headlight. i bought a used headlight off ebay for pretty cheap but it's got some haze issues. i did a search but couldn't find if anybody had any headlight covers. by this i mean the plastic ones that fit over the headlight. does anybody on here have these? what about the film covers? any pictures?

Polish them and the haze will go away.
I use 3m perfect it II compound by hand. Works great.
You could cover them with a film but them if they haze you will need to remove the film first.
Let us know how you make out.

I get it from our autobody supplier, I'm sure you can find it locally.
Obviously there must be similar products that works well but I know the 3M stuff works great.
Let me know if you need anymore info.

i got mines from here: http://www.clearmask.com/

if you polish them to a haze free finish and then put the film on ... you won't have any more hazing issues so long as the film was put on properly ...

i had this issue. its gonna sound outa whack but it works. get 1,500 grit sand paper wet sand the lamps, then throw some liquid compound(found at local autoparts) rub it in. then use 3,000 grit sand paper wet sand it. then use the compound again buff it out with clean cloth good as new.

I tried installing the headlight film over my lamps, it was a darker smoked out color. It looked really cool but I wasn't getting enough light projection out of them at night, so I decided to take them off. What a surprise I had when I did this. Mind you this was a perfect set of clear headlamps too. So after I pulled the film off the car I was shock to see the plastic lenses where both affected by micro cracking all over the lens. WTF? Totally ruined the headlamps, but I was still under warrantee so they are being replaced. I'm thinking the cause of haze and cracking was do to the layer of film insulating the headlamps and over heating the plastic?

Now I just lightly polish the headlamps with a micro fiber cloth and a special plastics cleaner and polisher for lexan parts on motorcycles. so watch out what you put on there.

So I had a chance to finally try the Meguire's Online method to restore my headlights. The hardest part was finding 1500 and 3000 grit sand paper. I ended up ordering from Aircraft Spruce, a aircraft parts store. Anyways, from the pictures you can see how bad the haze on the outside of the headlights was. There's a big difference in the before and after. Unfortunately, it's still not perfect because there's some haze inside my headlights as well.

I had your exact same problem. Hazing in my right headlamp. I am no longer under warranty so for a cheap solution I bought tints on ebay. There is an ebay store that specializes in these tints, they sell both the front and rear. This was my original post on the subject:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ight=lamp+tint

And also here is the link that I got from acrispy1 to the ebay store. You should be able to find them as a "Buy Now" item.

http://stores.ebay.com/DJs-Cool-Shad...80298QQfrsrcZ1

my only problem with these tints is that they have the annoying tendency to bubble around the edges. They come slightly too large so its good to size them down with a razor blade. And if they do bubble in the middle it usually involves taking off the tint and refitting it. However they do look pretty cool and do cover up the hazing. Best of luck!

P.S. Check acrispy1's gallery for pics of his tints on his black XFire. He has both front and rear. I only have fronts.

Smile Re: headlight covers

make headlight covers look like new. first, is the problem condensation, or sun light.
in my case, it was sun light. next, rub your finger across the cover. if, top to bottom, everything is very smooth, (very) then the problem is inside the cover. however, if you feel rough areas on the cover, this is caused by sun light. you can make your headlight covers look like new with Griots glass polish and a cheap buffer. if the damage is "deep" it will take at least 10 applications of the polish and buffing. go slow...it may take only 5 applications but, take your time. i was thinking about new head lamp units...at $442 each...now my car looks new for less than $20. btw. 3M professional rubbing compound is great for removing spots from bird droppings. only use by hand...again...take your time...

I was looking for the plastic covers as well but was unsuccessful finding them so I got some headlight tints from www.Decalfx.com. I'm hopefully going to put them on today. I'm going to a tint shop so that they can put it on for me. Me and my friend tried it on his 350z and we had so many bubbles that it looked ugly so I'm not going to take that chance. I'd rather pay a little for it to come out right.I'm hoping they don't mess up my head light because I might be getting HID's in the next couple of days. Let's see what happens. If anyone has any advice let me know.
