Got a problem!!
We have a 2005 SRT-6 Roadster. It has suddenly developed a problem that I can only describe as a "Dead Pedal".
It will run perfect, ie. "scare the crap out of you" power, then, with no notice, the next time you stomp on it, there is NOTHING! I mean...a sick VW could pass you. The pedal is essentially "Dead".
Has this been experienced before by someone else?? It appears to be an ECM type problem, but it resets, and will eventually come back to its normal self.
Please give me some feedback or ANYTHING you have heard.
THANKS...Paul...

yup ... water pump for water to air intercooler is failing on you... heat soak of the intercooler leads to the computer not activating the supercharger clutch to prevent damage to the engine from detonation...
some members have mentioned using a ford lightning pump as a more reliable substitute ... apparently the C32 guys pioneered this swap...

THANKS for the replies!!
I am new to the operation of the Crossfire, so bear with me on my learning curve. I am an old wrench head and the xfire is mostly my wife's car but we do share the love of driving this little "Beast".
This water pump issue, is it the main engine cooling pump or is there an auxiliary pump to supply the intercooler. Also, I take it the supercharger is not driven like what I am use to (belt) on a 671GM/Roots style. Is it electrically driven?
Is there a TSB that a Chrysler dealership can access and make the repairs?
We got the super-wazoo warranty when we purchased the car, but on the last trip to the dealer, they didn't appear to have a clue. and we got it back just like we left it...
Where can I research TSB's for this car? If I can go back with some documentation I think I'll have a better chance.
Again, THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!!

Has anyone found a source for the Ford Lightning auxiliary water pump online. I have looked high and low and not found one place that offers parts for a lightning pickup. We are taking the crossfire to the dealer next week, but if they screw me over, I'll just go buy a pump and install it myself. RAT BAST*RDS...
I supplied the dealer with all the information they needed to diagnoisis the aux water pmp issue and they chose to replace the IAT sensor. They called back and said that it was still FUBAR and they were going to go ahead and replace the pump...
I just thank Al Gore for the internet and all you good folks for the information you provided.
I just need to get er' back and on the road...

I don't know what it is with garages. But I can't remember ever taking any car in to be repaired where I told them what the specific problem was, and they didn't automatically "cop" an attitude. It's like they can't believe any "civilian" can diagnose what the problem is. (I guess they figure if you can diagnose it, you would fix it yourself).
Then when it turns out that you're correct, (just to cover their butts) they will always tell you that there was alot more to it than just the problem that you mentioned.

****!! Got the car back yesterday and got a chance to get on it tonight, and guess what...It still runs like ****. You can feel the SC just drop out, and when it comes back it runs like a raped ape. I can see where they put in a Auxiliary Intercooler pump, but I'm no better than I was before...
Any good ideas what to do now...

Intercooler pump was probably not switched. I had a dealership lie to me too. Does the service write-up say they replaced it? Bring the car to IL and I can fix it for you.
They had it for two weeks . First they changed the IAT, and a coolant sensor they said had zero voltage. There was no improvement so they replaced the IAWP (IC aux. water pmp), replaced a blown fuse (supposedly because the original IAWP was drawing high current) and then cleared all the codes.
I'm about to start troubleshooting this thing myself.
Looking down, you can see just the tip if the IAWP, and it appears new. I wonder if I jumpered it, if I could test it to see if it runs. Could be a faulty pump. If so they will still have to replace it...
This whole idea of a intercooler integrated into the cooling system seem strange to me. I would think you would want air to air intercooler, not hot water to air.
EDIT: I went out and looked closer and it appears that there are TWO pumps in that plumbing system. From the top, one is WAY down and close to the ground, near wheel well and the other is basically behind the passenger side headlight but down, still accessible from the wheel well. This one was not changed. It looks like it leads up to a pair of solenoids next to the coolant overflow tank. It may be part of the climate control, it leads right into the cabin. It would sure be nice to have a schematic of this mess.
Which pump is the IAWP???

The pump in the passenger wheel well IS the intercooler pump. If this was not replaced then your vehicle was not fixed properly.
By the way, an Air-to-Water intercooler system is more effective at cooling down charged air, it just has more components that can break. I had an old 1995 Lotus Esprit S4s, and they had the same problem with the intercooler pump failing.

Looking at the diagram you attached, (THANKS!!) the pump that appears new is the correct pump. that being said, I work with enough equipment to know that just because it is new, don't mean it works. I talked to the service manager this morning and told him the sad story, and he is going to work on finding a solution.
I, in the meantime will t'shoot it from my end. I still think it is an issue with this pump. Either it is not running or some sensor is not telling it to run.
If you think of something else let me know, I will keep you all posted.

Well, here's the follow-up. INTERCOOLER AUXILIARY WATER PUMP.
Problem solved...I pulled the inner fender well this morning and tested the pump. It was replaced and was new. I jumped it and it was silent and ran very smooth. I reinstalled the connection with di-electric grease and took it out for a run. 10 miles into it and...it crapped out!
The pump has access through a little door in the fender well and you can easily stick your hand in and feel the pump. After 20 or so miles the pump was NOT warm, was NOT running and the hoses were cold. NOT GOOD. I had verified that the pump was good so what was up.
I had assumed the pump was thermally protected internally. NOT the case. It is fused, and the fuse was blown. It is position #12 in the fuse box.
I talked to the technician that worked on the issue at the dealership and he said that he had been off the day the pump came in and another tech had installed the pump. The old pump was a fuse blower and the tech simply installed the new unit and didn't check the fuse before signing off on the job.
Bottom line, If your SRT-6 runs like ****, check the pump. Open the access door on the fender panel and FEEL IT and LISTEN TO IT. After that check for a blown fuse. After that all that is left is the IAT sensor.
Hope this help the next guy that has the Aux. Pmp issue.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP I GOT HERE!!!
