Default Windscreen & Side Grills

I just got the windscreen & chrome side grills for my SRT6. The side grills came with two small holes in each one, this may sound like a dumb question, but are they to put screws in, they came with glue?
And I'm looking for advice on putting the windscreen on, the pieces have double sided tape on them, does anyone recommend adding a little glue or adhesive for extra holding strength? Thanks in advance to anyone with advice.

You don't screw the side Finns, just use the glue. You may also want to add the same type of glue to the wind screen, press on them and use masking tape to keep them in place for about 24 hours.

Hope this helps.

FP, did your side grills come with the holes in them? I know I read about someone putting small screws in them several months ago because they were afraid they would come off or maybe they done it to hold them on till the glue dried I don't remember.

Yes they did, but I didn't use any screws. I just used the glue that came with it, held them in place for a while, taped them and leaned something against it until the glue took.

Cool Re: Windscreen & Side Grills

The holes are for screws...I also just used the glue that came with them. On the windshield surround I would not recommend (IMHO) using any extra adhesive. If ever you should have to replace your windshield, and the OEM window surround gets damaged and your chrome one gets damaged also because it is permanently attached you now have a problem. I actually purchased "3M Automotive Tape" and just added some more tape for insurance. Now if ever I have to have my windshield replaced I can remove the chrome surround and then the OEM surround.

That sounds good adding a little more tape, I was kind of worried that the windscreen could come off at high speeds. And as for the side grill's I'll just use the glue, I thought that maybe some peoples side grill's may have came off and that was the reason for the hole's.

When putting on the windscreen the directions say's to check the fit. When I set the sides on the pillars the top inside corners did not lay flush, they stuck up about 1/4 to 1/2 inch, I tried doing a little twisting to get them to lay better, but it didn't help. Did anyone else have that problem? I cleaned the surface two times with alcohol and wiped it down, but the one on the right side is starting to stick up a little, I even added a little more tape. I also added more tape to the windshield edge of the center piece and it didn't want to fit right so I had to take it back off. While trying to get it off the new tape that I applied stuck like I've never seen double sided tape stick, I ended up putting some small wrinkles in the center piece. I was going to take it to a place that does metal massaging like they do for hail damage and just apply new tape, but I found that the 3M tape that you get at the local parts store is thicker than what comes with the windscreen. I think that may have caused it not to set right to begin with. I tried to get just a new center piece, but it was a no go, you have to buy the whole set. Did anyone else run into any similar problems?

I used glue for both parts without screws and without relying much on the tape.. the windscreen does slightly stick out on the edges, but you will not notice that soon and the side grills are a little too small so a small part of the plastic remains showing, the bad thing I could say is that the windscreen creates wind noise at about 90 mph+... and Steve you should not have a problem if you decide to take off the windscreen as the glue that they are sent with is not all too strong and there are liquids out there that will... dismantle it's effect... all in all I am not to happy with these parts and if I had to do it again I would remove the windscreen and side grills and ship them out to be chromed...

I had a hell of a time with the side grills too, but they didn't turn out too bad. The biggest part of the problem was that the side grills were bowed, and the covers were nice and straight. After screwing around with some bungee straps, wood shims and card board, every time I would get one or two to fit right the third one wouldn't. I was doing one side at a time, I finally got out a couple nylon ratchet straps and wrapped them all the way around the car and cranked them down tight with wood shims between the covers and the strap. That worked out pretty good, so anybody putting on the side grill covers I would highly recommend the ratchet strap method. I didn't use any glue or adhesive on the windscreen, I haven't done anything with the center piece of the windscreen yet, it's still sitting on a work bench in my garage, the wrinkles aren't to noticeable, but they would be to me. I talked with Autoxclusive and told them what I had done to the top of the windscreen and they offered to sell me another set at cost and that's probably what I'll do.
