I don't think it's an actual problem K.F., because I haven't read where anybody has actualy worn out the motor on their wing.
But by shutting it off, (like Maxwell pointed out) it would cut down on wear and tear.
I personally feel the main reason for the wing coming up before 65 mph is because here in the USA, if it came up at the speeds where it actually is needed, nobody would ever get the chance to see it.

Well I should have said "MOST" drivers in the USA would never get to see it.
I wasn't taking into consideration the "crazy" ones Max.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to have talked to ya at the Dragon, you always seemed to have alot of people around you everytime I came up, and I didn't see anybody passsing out numbers.
By the way, your car looked great!

Just be sure to put an in-line fuse to take the place of the original fuse that you pulled.
This part of the quote is very important. If you remove the original fuse and don't install one in line with the switch, a shorted circuit could cause damage in the form of burnt wires or even a fire. Fuses are there for a reason.

I was figuring I had pi$$ed you off along with everyone else! Sorry I didn't spend some time with you either. C'mon down in the spring and we'll catch up?

Thanks for the kudos.

Oh I forgot to add, be sure to use a "waterproof" in-line fuse if you place it under the hood like I did.
My original one quit working due to just a little corrosion, and I had to replace it, just a couple of weeks ago.

Maxwell, I for one would be very interested to see how your timer delay do-hickey works out. Just this morning on my way to work my spoiler came up in a 45mph zone. I really think this caught the local authorities eye. Thankfully they didn't pull me over, but I did get an escort to the town line. I would like to copy any mod that successfully delays the spoiler deployment without any input from me and without tripping the alarm. Keep us informed with all the details, thanks.

Try asking one of the tuning companies like LET for instance if they can change the speed it deploys at.

They were able to lower the temp at which my fan turns on...maybe they can do that also?

From the little I know they can change any setting....

My .02

I wasn't sure if this post should go here, or if I should have made a new topic for it.
Anyway, I did some quick calculations last night, and figured out the following.

Downforce generated by extended rear spoiler @ diffrent speeds

10mph = 5lbs.

20mph = 10lbs.

30mph = 15lbs.

40mph = 20lbs.

50mph = 25lbs.

60mph = 30lbs.

70mph = 35lbs.

80mph = 40lbs.

90mph = 45lbs.

100mph = 50lbs.

110mph = 55lbs.

120mph = 60lbs.

130mph = 65lbs.

140mph = 70lbs.

150mph = 75lbs.

160mph = 80lbs.

170mph = 90lbs.

180mph = 100lbs.

Also, if I'm wrong on my calculations, which I very well could be, since math never was one of my strong points, feel free to repost the table, with correct numbers..

Don't know about your math and the downforce, but there is one other component to this : I know from my time with Audi that the minimal downforce of the spoiler added to the TT did not tell the whole story, it was also the removal of the lift generated by the body shape without the spoiler.
