A few questions about "Limp" mode
First of all some of you have probably read I had the sluggish acceleration issue yet my dealer wanted to replace every sensor possible before doing the right thing (right now I am on the brake module and yaw sensor). Anyways they always try talking me into how each sensor is the root of the problem because it throws the car into "Limp" mode. So here are where my questions stem from. What are all the things "Limp" mode does? I know when referring to the transmission "Limp home mode" restricts the car to 2nd and reverse gears. I was more wondering about everything that changes on the car when it enters "Limp" mode referring to engine parts? Also and this may be the dumbest question ever put on the forum, but if the srt-6 is a "5 speed automatic" why can I only cycle through 4 gears in "stickmatic"? Oh and is it really possible for the car to be in "Limp" mode one second and not in another?
Geeze dude... Now there's the first new question I've seen on this forum in a year... And I doubt you'll get an answer soon...
All I can say is download the manual from this site and look-up the P0211, P1612, P0370 DTC's
This should be VERY simple for the dealer to diagnose if they know what they are doing and have the STARSCAN system...
Good luck if you have the typical Chrysler Dealer

I did look up the DTC's not quite sure how they relate to this issue so I might be looking at the wrong thing. I'm not sure if they have a STARSCAN system, they don't seem to have many problems finding codes, they just started calling Chrysler after they get a new code.

Thanks for the help HDDP, I took the car in today and they replaced the sensors and fixed a trans leak (the tsb one). Anyways once the replaced the sensors they ran the test again and came up for a code for a part not in my car, so they called chrysler and chrysler helped them figure out it was the high intake temp code. So per the usual they are going to replace the sensor tomorrow and hopefully once that doesn't work they will replace the pump and I wont have to worry about limp mode anymore. Does everyones trans only scroll 1-4 and then D?
Ok so I got my car back yesterday, after they replaced the intake temp sensor and low and behold the problem was still there. So I took it back to them and told them that is still doing the problem and most likely the aux pump. So they again called Chrysler and told them about the problem and mentioned the pump to Chrysler to see if it would jog their memory, the Chrysler guy said he would research it and call them back. When he called be he informed the dealer that he had found the issue with the aux pump, but it was not under performance issue but rather cooling issue. So if anyone is having this problem and having the run around with the dealer make sure when they call Chrysler that they check under the cooling section for the problem. Also if anyone is in the Chicagoland area, Bob Rohrman's chrysler on dundee in buffalo grove is now fully aware of the issue and will probably give you less problems if you need it replaced.
i found limp mode this evening lol. crank position sensor a is toasted... i have a base model 5 speed and it restricts me to less than 2000 rpms then the engine shuts down if that gives you any idea of limp mode oh and it stayed that way it never shut off intermitently. of course that might just be a hard code i guess ill find out!
