Automatic Transmission Leak
Hello
I just purchaced a 04 crossfire last week before leaving on a business trip. It has apx 40,000 miles on it and runs great. Due to a mix up on the title and car sat in my garage a few days. When my wife left to go get it registered she noticed a envelope size stain of transmission fluid on the floor. She pulled the car out to the driveway for about 3 hours and after pulling back in, it left a 3 inch round stain of fluid.
She ran it over to a trans shop who said it was leaking from the wiring harness input. Is this a seal or gasket ? Also he said that benz has a kit to put on a dip stick, which seems like a good idea.

I am going to check with Chrysler, The trans shop is wanting to replace the harness also, saying it can also leak through the harness and short out the soleniod. They do some benz work, so they may know what they are taking about but it seems fishy.

i just discovered i have this problem yesterday, after i replaced the ignition because of a worn out ignition lock (pain in the ***) so now this, i noticd an awful smell of burning something, does anyone know how long this repair takes to do (how long will my xfire be at the dealership)?
It's an O ring around the wiring harness. My dealer changed it in no time, invoice read $75 but it was covered under warranty. Don't know which warranty (powertrain or MaxiCare) but my '04 has 55,000 miles on it. Not a big deal.
my dealer gave me this long story about why its not under warenty. wich is bull they want $100 just to look at it after i told them i know what the problem is and gave them the service bulliten, they are comp[lete idiots when it comes to the crossfire, i ordered the parts my self, it was like 36 dollars, i used my discount(i work for insurance company), my bro in law is the transmmition guy for avis by lax he said he allready changed 3 of these on crossfires avis rents, hes doing mine for free but goes to sho chrysler service department sucks!!!!
They actually call this part the guide bushing it is used on alot of chrysler dodge and jeep vehicles it lists for 11.25 part number 68021352AA we have replaced loads of these and i have never seen them needing a harness and they are easy to replace just kinda hard to get to i don't know about that dealership but not all dealerships are bad hope this helps.......
