not in this case, the srt6 needs to take heat away from the pistons, because it has higher cylinder pressures.

And No, not with synthetic oils, they don't break down until you hit very high temps. way beyond the limits of this engine. not positive what mobil 1 states the limit is, but I'm sure it can handle 600 degrees F with out sludging or coking up.

also synthetic oils do not wear out! so heat can't hurt synthetic. it's not about extending oil life. that's managed by the additives and your oil filter. that's why a lot of you guys waste good synthetic oil at every oil change, where as you should get the oil analyzed before dumping it out of the crank case. most of the time all you need is a bypass oil filter and just add about 2 quarts of fresh stock to replenish the additives that have been used up.

I would not use that toluene in your car, it is hard on all the rubber seals, o2 sensors etc.

I use klotz octane booster, it is $56/gallon (you can get 5 gallon cans cheaper) and for every 1oz of octane booster per gallon of gas it raises your octane by 2.5 numbers (93 octane to 95.5 octane) and it is actually SAFE to use unlike the toluene. You can also use torco octane booster but it costs a little more. The stuff you buy at autozone etc is garbage it raises octane in points as in (93 octane to 93.1 octane) which is a waste of money.

Try some maple syrup or maybe give some couch syrup a shot! Heck with the stuff that is actually made to be ran in cars, you would be crazy to try that stuff!

i've been trying to read up on it here and there, and this is the first mention of negatives. other things ive seen have quoted that its safe on o2's. i haven't seen anything on seals, although i've seen reports of it being used by manufactuers and race teams. i'm not questioning you, but trying to get as much knowlage as i can about it before i try. my main concern is fuel mileage and power loss on hot days in traffic. the klotz booster, does it show improvements like these? i'm sure it would help with the car pulling timing with the octane raise.

just to add. at $56/gallon and using 1oz/1gallon at 16 gallons a fillup, i get 8 fill ups a gallon of klotz and that would come out to an additional $7/fillup to my current fuel charge. thats just under two gallons of gas so for benefits that would mean i would need to gain over 60 miles more range per tank.

i dont know the cost of toluene, but replaceing gallons of gas w/it, could end up being cheaper if increased mileage is achieved

toluene is about $12-$20 a gallon depending where you shop.

I know it's a pain in the **** but propane may not be a bad idea. thats about $2.95 a gallon

If you google toluene you can find tons of negatives on it for automotive use. Mythbusters actually did an episode on it and proved it was worthless if I recall correctly.

BTW, I typed couch syrup earlier (typo) it should have read cough syrup lol.

Why not just use alcohol injection to raise octane? I have a kit a purchased from www.labontemotorsports.com . Haven't installed it yet, but from what I've read and seen, these seem to be the best systems.

i seen a link to mythbusters and i'm sure they used acetone or something else, not toluene, unless its the same?? also i'm still searching for negatives and coming up short. haven't gave up yet.

heres an intersting page.

edit; Mythbusters episode

acetone=
C3-H6-O

toluene=
C6-H5-CH3 or C7-H8

exactly, i have said many times on here it gives a big octane boost and can drop air temps as much as 250 degrees. then you can safely advance timing and make big power.

Sounds rather optomisitc to me. Do you have a link to any tests that have been performed to back this up?

Go on their site and read the data sheets on it, klotz makes race fuel as well and they are huge in the pro-drag racing circuit. Torco and Klotz are the big boys in the performance market.

Go to google.com and do the research yourself if you are interested in learning.

here i did some of the work for you: http://www.klotzlube.com/main.asp

I can tell you it is much safer than pouring paint thinner and other chemicals not intended for automotive use in your car. Personally I think that is crazy, you are risking your motor just to save a few cents and chances are all it will result in is poor performance and damage. Some people fall for the "snake oil" though, lol.

How is Toluene equivalent to "snake oil"?

Honda ran 84% Toluene on its 1.5L Turbo Formula 1 engines for three years! They were pushing 36.3psi boost at 9.4:1 compression ratios using what was essentially "paint thinner."

I just take my 5 gallon can and go down the road to where the 100 octane race fuel is only $6.99 a gallon and fill it up. Then add a gallon to every fill up to increase the octane. No way am I spending more money than that. When I lived in Minnesota, I used to go to the Holiday station in St Paul and filled up on the 100 when it was only $3.99 a gallon a few years back. Not sure what the cost is nowadays over there.

Lol, that motor was built to run on that stuff. It is your car so you can do what you feel is best, good luck.

which klotz are you using? i'm looking at some of their stuff and alot of it contains Tetraethyl Lead OSHA PEL (copied from klotz web page msds), (common in racing fuel) which is what used to be in leaded fuel which was phased out because it clogged cats.

i still cannot find negative's about toluene. in fact it burns into co2 and h2o. i don't know how that hurts the engine. also its natural occuring in crude oil and the manufacturing of fuel. alot of octane booster contains toluene. if you read uses and tech sheets, the first listed use is in fuel for combustion engine. it is used as a paint thinner, but i wouldn't say thats what it is. the paint supply store is mearly the easiest way to get it.

that's because they actually spent the time tuning the engine to the fuel, where most average joe, just throws it in the tank and expects something marvelous to happen, need to retune the ecu for toluene.

Also mythbusters, does the most half asses experiments, where nothing is really explained properly.

I wouldn't put more than 10% Toluene mixe in my tank if I where you. maybe for grins I would mix 5% nitro.

Nitromethane works great for alcohol injection but does not mix well with gas. I have a case of 80% meth/20% nitro sitting in my spare room from my last car and I plan to use with alky injection when I get it for this car. You will typically see anywhere from 20 to 55whp increases with it. Your car will run leaner with it however so it is best to tune for it.

You can go to devils own injection forum to read up more on it. They sell a very expensive mix of it but I have it custom mixed for me at a fuel shop for $75/2 gallons.

Do not try to run it by pouring it in your gas tank, it will not mix well and if you get a puddle of it in your tank that gets 100% injected into your motor then bye bye motor. But then again you guys are mixing all kinds of crap in your gas that is not intended for automotive use so I guess you will learn the hard way lmao.
