I just put my Code three pulley on today! My question is: Will that little switch that claims to eliminate it, really eliminate it? Yes, I know I could run out and do some R&D. I was out earlier but I forgot my glasses and couldn't even find the switch till I came home and put the specs on. Then my girlfriend wanted to talk ..ETC.

The reason I'm wondering is some guy on you-tube pulled a couple of fuses, actually, I think it was one of our forum members, to knock the system out, and I'm thinkin', if the switch works, why would he do that?

I would really like to turn that blasted thing off for a while to get a feel for the car and my new power. I owned a Corvair as a kid and really liked hangin' the *** end out on corners. I tried it on the xfire and it shut me down (Boohoo!) I'd also like to break 'em loose in 2nd while I'm showing the new performance to my friends. I'll turn it back on during rainey season, as if we had a rainey season in So. Cal. Thanks MM

 

it doesn't really turn it off all the way, it just kind of makes it not as aggressive

 

Leaving the system on and you can get very little wheelspin, and virtually no side slippage (yaw).

Using the button on the dash supposedly disarms the system, but in reality it only sets the parameters back a little. You still cannot get too carried away with wheelspin or doing donuts.

Removing the fuses will throw a light or 2 on the dashboard, but now you can do big ol' long smoky burnouts, and donuts galore.

This is what I did. It too lights up a couple of warning lights on the dashboard (easily ignored) but I've had absolutely no interference from "Big Brother" since I made the disconnect.

I thought I read somewhere that removing the fuses still didn't always turn the darn thing off.

 

I had been running with both fuses removed until apkano pointed out that my brake lights didn't work
I immediately reinstalled the fuse that also controls the brake light and haven't noticed too much difference whether 1 or 2 fuses are pulled.....I can still do brake-torque starts, and get it totally sideway in corners
with just 1 fuse removed. The only draw back I noticed is that my wing is always up. But this may be due to something else. I also run with no TPS. As a result I have a fully lit Christmas tree on my dash.....J/K only 3 lights on all the time.
BTW my car is a 2005 Limited.....I know the 2004s are set up differently

 

Humm, I have fuses 17 & 18 set up on a pair of heavy duty relays that are controlled by a remote control key fob. I guess I'd better check and see if my brake lights work when those two circuits are open, I never even thought about that. I know this is the only car I've ever owned that the brake lights don't work unless the key is on.

 

isnt there a way to put some wires to the fusesand when you turn the traction control off it will shut those off? and havent people been saying the car goes into limp mode though

 

I meant to post on that link, I did the same thing and I have to say it is like a different car, I genuinely love it now. I will never put it back on. I have a 6 speed and the car could never take off correctly and it even had trouble when I would down shift. I used to alway notice a little hiccup when I would go from 3rd to 2nd. I only drive mine in the summer, so it is staying off.

I am still teetering on putting the relay in there because I heard if the wire is off insurance will still pay, but if they find out you disabled it you could have problems. I have no idea if this is true or how to find out. Come to think of it, a buddy of mine sells insurance for Allstate, I will ask him.

 

I believe the wing up problem is from the fuse, I had a dead battery do that before. The battery read enough volts, or close, but couldn't supply the amps. I believe the relay in the wing is naturally open, which means it needs power to stay shut. I would imagine this is a safety issue, so that you arm/hand doesn't get smashed if the rely takes a dump. Concurrently, I noticed that when I use the manual switch to control the wing, you have to hold it down until it beeps when standing still idling. When driving it goes down with a quick press an release. This is why I thought it might be a safety issue, perhaps to stop a pedestrian from sticking their hand under your wing. Not sure, but seemed plausible. I don't know why else the switch would operate that way.
