( that's 6 more hp than the Crossfire's 215, I believe the SL320 had the 74mm TB )
But I have also heard that the true HP of a stock N/A Crossfire is around 240.
I have never seen any facts to back that up, however if true, then my mods might well place it in the 260-270 HP range.

I'm just too frugal ( mrmiata's word for cheap ) to drive 100 miles one way to find a dyno and know for sure.
True hp? As in the advertised power for the crossfire is just plain wrong?

The same rumor has it that Daimler made Chrysler advertise lower HP so as to not compete in sales with the MB 2 seaters of the time.

Like I said, all rumor and speculation.

My LTD XF Roadster is getting 211.4 RWHP with the mods listed in my signiture. Everyone tells me there is about 20% power train HP loss, so that would make crank HP somewhere around 264HP. The car run great, but not SRT6 performance. I would love to do a Supercharger or Turbo, but they are so expensive. I have thought about adding a NOS kit to it, but don't want to kill the engine by over doing it. I think it somewhere between 243 and 254 crank HP.

Point blank, we heard from the lead engineer on the crossfire project in Michigan last year that the SRT rating of 330 HP versus the SLK32's 349HP rating was total BS as well. They were the same motor, and same HP, but MB would not let them advertise a competing car with the same HP...

I have never heard this of the NA and SLK320, as both were rated at 215HP. If the motor put out more than that, I think MB would have capitalized in their sales literature for the 320...

Is yours an auto or manual? I've always heard that an auto tranny will rob more horsepower than a manual.

Hi,

I just bought a TB of 74mm from eBay which is here : eBay | Mercedes CLS W219 W 219 Drosselklappe 0280750017 A 1131410125 Motor M272

I would like to know, if i can keep the actual MAF case or do i have to replace it with a 74mm one because its diameter is like the old TB (68mm) ?

By the way, same question for the "elbow" and the "O'Ring".

Can you please give me the REFERENCES of the parts ?

Thanks !

Using the old elbow and the O-Ring if it is OK, but it is best to get a new one.

I already looked @ this post.
What i would like to know (i could verify it on my car but as for now it is not close to me ...), is the diameters of the actual MAF housing and the elbow.

As the diameter of the throttle body is actually 68mm, i must think that the MAF housing and the elbow are the same ... so basically, changing just the throttle body would not give some gain.
Is it possible to find just the MAF housing and the elbow for cheap ?

By the way, does the O'Ring diameter is like these 2 parts : 68mm and should be changed to 74mm too ?

Thanks !

The O.D. is the same on all these parts, it's the I.D. that is different. If I remember correctly the "O" ring for the TBis the same for either the 68mm or 74mm TB., the elbow is the same for either. The MAF and TB are 68mm and 74mm for both. I changed the MAF and the TB and took the baffles out of the elbow and the screens. I left the screen in the engine cover. I swapped the flow sensor in the MAF ( removed the sensor in the 74mm and replaced with the 68mm sensor). Got a few more RWHP, but improved sound and response.

The elbow is OK, it fits the OD of both size throttle bodies as they are the same size outside except that the inside diameter of the 74mm throttle body is 74mm and the inside diameter of the 68mm throttle body is .......68mm. The O-ring is the same for both throttle bodies. The answers are all in that post.

Hi, thanks for your answers, but, after reading the whole post, i just couldn't find the 74mm MAF housing MB ref.

Could you please tell me which is the good ref for this part, i will try and look over the net to buy one for cheap.

Basically, i understood that the "Intake Manifold", "Elbow", "O'Ring" are the same diameters which are compatible with the "74mm Throttle Body".
But it seems that there is the MAF housing which is not good at all.

Hope you can help me to find the good way of doing the right mod with the right parts.

Thanks !

so i read this whole thread only to be a bit more confused... TVT was a company doing these mods but closed down right? were they lying? and can our car engines really put out 270 at the crank? especially after all these promised mods by tvt? how much ACTUAL hp did people get from this mod? and where can i get all the parts required for this? can someone post a link to these items?

My question is: will an 82mm or 85mm work on the crossfire engine in stead of going with the 74mm?
