Blue fluid leak from behind RF wheel
I'm giving my "new" 2005 coupe the once-over after having it sit for a few days (waiting not so patiently
).
There was a dollar-coin size puddle of blue fluid on the floor just behind the right (passenger's) front tire. There were traces on the very bottom of the fender, but no signs from above (around the battery, etc.).
The fluid didn't seem acidic, so I don't think it was the battery. Unfortunately both the antifreeze and the windshield washer (WW) fluids are both blue, and of similar "feel".
I'm guessing the WW reservoir or line (pump under there too?). What say you?
If I pull the front tire and remove the black plastic inner-fender splashshield, are the WW parts accessible? I don't have a service manual yet.
Thanks!

It's behind that fender (RH side). I see some pics on the site.
Others: no, I haven't added any WW fluid yet, so it's probably not just overflowing.

it'd be the ww fluid in that spot, more than likely a hose split, or coupling washer dried. Pull the wheel skirt, it's all right there. Mine froze this winter, and pulled the skirt, put a heater there, drained it and refilled to a colder allowable and that was that. Might be a crack in the bottle, but I really doubt that
Yuo can find a service manual here if it's any help. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html
It's just windshield washer fluid.....that's exactly where the overflow is.
I've had mine leak out on hot days, parked on a slight incline, etc. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hmmm ... no leaks today. And tried the washers for the first time, and there's fluid. So maybe the seller had it overfilled? Odd that there's no dipstick -- would be an easy improvement.
It's Vulcan blood! You must have the Startrek Version of the Crossfire!
Seriously it's just windshield washer fluid leaking from the overflow. Strangely, in the day of containing every fluid in the car and preventing it from just leaking onto the ground, Mercedes, er I mean, Karmann, er I mean Chrysler designed the washer tank to overflow directly to the ground.
There's a sticker warning that overfilling may cause spillage.
There's another thread on here all about it.

You do not need to take it apart (unless you want to put an overflow tank on it and tell us about it
)
When the low washer fluid warning comes on, you should be able to put a gallon in without overflowing and have enough margin to keep it from overflowing due to expansion.

Was in Vulcan, Alberta on the 1st of july, and no leak's of blue fluid
, pink fluid the day before when I filled the washer tank with anti bug fluid . Any dip stick would be an improvement especialy on the transmition system,

Anitfreeze is slightly slippery. Battery acid burns, eats at the concrete floor, ... and ruins brand new pairs of Levis.
Washer fluid often has a slight ammonia odor.
Haven't noticed any more leaks, but haven't been looking either. But I'd guess it was just too full.

Well ... apparently was not too full. My washer warning light has activated, and I've never used the wiper fluid. But haven't seen more leaks.
"You do not need to take it apart"
Appears that I will need to, maybe this weekend. Hoping it's just a leaking tube, and not a cracked tank.

Took it apart. Bad news -- tank is leaking. The lower support/bolt, on the bottom, rests right on a molding/jointing seam in the tank. Vibration seems to have gotten the best of it. New "washer reservoir" on order -- hopefully they have one in stock.
After pulling the wheel, I couldn't get the inner splash shield all the way off. Removed the two metal screws from underneath the car and pried the lip of the PVC rocker (using a putty knife) from over the shield, but the black plastic shield still wouldn't come out. Seems like the shield was hanging-up on the nuts for the two underneath bolts. Anyone else experience/tackle this problem?

The price these puppies are I think that I would try and repair it. You have to find something that sticks to PE?
Fiber glass seems to work.
