Key Fob Does Not Work
Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a 2005 Crossfire with 2 keys that came with the car when I purchased it new in 2005. The key fob I always use works fine, my extra key fob is not working (car will not unlock and I am standing next to car trying). The last time I used it was about 6 mos. ago. I have read many posts here but still have some questions. Is there a battery in the fob? If so hw do you get to it and where can I buy the battery? I will try to program the fob again the way it is talked about on another post (put key in ignition, hit unlock twice, car should start) but can't do it now, I am at work. I just spoke with my Chrysler service advisor and he does not know if there is a battery in the fob and also said I would need to get a new fob from the factory. Also, I have seen posts that state the fob won't work but they open the door with the key - how do you do that? Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to buy another fob - I think they are about $150

Batteries MIGHT be dead, not sure. I think they're about 7$ for two..
Try putting the fob in the door handle to see if it'll unlock, and in the ignition to see if it starts. There's a tiny RF transmitter in the key fob and if it's not the right one for your car (possibly someone gave you an extra wrong key by mistake?) it'll NEVER start.
Hey Jewels here's a great post by Tom on opening the fob.

Quick easy way to check the batteries is to watch the red LED on the front and press a button. The LED should flash once. If not, I would say replace the batteries.

Bought a 5 pack from batterybob.com. Cost $7 including shipping and handling. His batteries may be fresher than your local Radio Shack. I'm sure he moves a bunch of these.
Hi everyone just picked up our crossfire convertable Wednesday and one key fob not opening doors or locking. I put new batteries in and I can see the light flashing on the red led panel but still not working. Any suggestions

Press the lock or unlock button twice on the fob in question.. within 30 seconds insert the key and turn it to the on/run position. This should "reset" the fob to the car.

Thanks Mrmiata it worked. I was unable to lock/unlock car but still able to start it. Changed batteries but still no joy. Reprogramed the key as you suggested and it worked.
Some suggestions -when you press the unlock/lock on the fob if the red light on the front of the key does not flash its new batteries-if it does flash try "reset" function as above.-its easy and it worked for me.
