Default hesitation, dying...

Ok folks this happened this afternoon:

as i was driving, i went to accelerate into traffic. prior to the acceleration, there was a slight hesitation, like the car took a deep breath, then i went. now this went to stalling out and dying at a few lights. first thought was the fuel injectors, or the fuel pump. however after getting home, letting the car idle in the garage, i can hear a faint almost sucking sound, then the hesitation, then the car revs up. any ideas here before i go get her checked out???

I have had the same problem, once though and it only stalled once, not multiple times after that. Don't know what the problem is but it hasnt happened since. I replaced the Crank Sensor and I'm looking to replace the RCM but that has nothing to do with what you are explaining I believe. It might be a vacuum leak as tighed1 said. Although there is a mechanical diagnosis called Engine Hesitation which occurs when the engine misfires, chokes or lacks power when you are stepping on the gas/throttle. I read a lot of places that it is due to an unideal fuel mixture, too lean or too rich, or something is wrong with the ignition, or the air flow sensor takes into account the wrong amount of air thus mixing in the wrong amount of fuel which in turn can cause a misfire or produce a hesitation when you step on the gas...

Immediately after buying gas last night I was on 95 and it felt like I was going to stall. Jerked during lower rpms and felt like it wasn't running on all cylinders.
When I got back that evening I went to the same gas station to make sure I didn't grab the wrong handle and put in a lower octane by mistake. I didn't. Today I filled the tank from another station and all was fine. Just bad gas. It happens.

Had similar problem, turned out that the filter assembly was not installed correctly, look at the rough idle thread under engines

the car has never just died just makes you think it is going to. It will keep slowly moving but u think it has died straightens up after about 30 Ft and runs fine I am on the 3rd tank of shell 93 octane . it did this 3 times last night during about to hours of driving and in city stoping and going. Most of the time it happens in a slow hard right turn or stopping and doing a right hand turn, makes no sense

I always turn the key on and let fuel pump run til it pressures then start the car. while stopped it idles fine no miss or nothing, just when you push to gas to go it falters like fuel shut off. once it takes the gas it is fine never misses or anything

I would consider buying an RCM (relay control module) and swapping it out. It is plug and play and you should carry a spare anyway.
