I need BIG help
I am very frustrated so i apologize if this is wrong place to put this.
I had , twice so far, problem when i go on freeway and start speeding up (nailing the pedal down) my 04 crossfire just stop to work. It is like you put it in to neutral. When i stop and start going again everything is normal. Also my fuel lamp turns on like i am low on fuel, and my car is 3/4 full. When i turn it off and on again, everything would be normal. BUT now, 10 minutes ago same thing again, the fuel one, but this time it turned off and my engine check light came on.
Oh, and i read the powertrain control module reset, but i don't know if that will help.
Anybody any ideas??
Thank you in advance

yes, as in liquid that you add to the tank, STP or others. Also, may disconnect the battery, leave it off for about a minute, rehook it back up and see if that resets. Finally, may be a throttle position sensor going bad. My father had an early 80's plymouth Reliant that would do that, and I had a buick park ave do the same thing. In the Buick it was the Mass Air flow sensor that seems to go out on a regular basis. The Reliant was something else that was too long ago to remember what exactly it was. My bet is that it's a sensor somewhere that gets overwhelmed when you floor it. So it just says the heck with this, I'm shutting down.

That's what it's for.

The patient will tell us what is wrong if we have a code reader, they are cheap for the work they save, Id like to suggest that you go to ebay or where ever and get a obdII reader or one of the data loggers that I have. It charts the performance and resets faults, check out Zetronix as I use it and love the capability it provides. Woody
Definitely get the code from the check engine light. since it is happening when you nail the throttle is sounds like a cloggged fuel filter. I would also check the air filters. If you get the air fuel ratio way off the car will go into fail safe to protect itself. Even if the check engine light go back off the code is still stored. auto zone will scan if for free if you don't have a scanner.
Ok, i disconected the battery and check engine light is gone. The problem with the throttle is not engine light, it is that when i step on it it just gets in to "neutral" mode and it doesn't work.
I will update my powertrain control module when i fix my door
So i should go to auto zone to read my code? Do i have to go to chrysler dealer to reset module? Does anybody know where is the best place in San Diego to do that?
And if i really need that reader, can someone give me the link to it, because i have absolutely no idea what are you talking about
Thank you

You need an OBDII code scanner. you can also buy these at Auto Zone or just have them scan if for free. I really don't think you fixed anything by disconnecting the battery. Get the code! I really think you have an issue with the air/fuel ratio. when you stomp on the throttle if the engine can't match the air/fuel ratio the computer will throw you into a fail safe to protect the engine. It sounds like fuel filter, injectors, fuel pump or air filter. you are not getting enough fuel or air and most likely fuel. How many miles are on the car? Ever replaced the fuel filter?
I have the same issue but when it goes into neutral it feels like someone stepped on the brakes real hard for a split second. I also have a 04 LTD. I have not had time to get the code checked due to the army keeping me busy but I just took 30 days off so I'm going to get it checked. I'll update as soon as I get it looked at.
I just bought code reader : Actron OBD II AutoScanner CP9175 because there is law in California that only dealers can read the codes. So i connected the thing and it said " no code" or something similar. So i get back and they said that that is ok. Any way i changed the reader for new one and still the same. Have i mind that when i disconected the baterry my check engine light turned off and fuel thing didn't show up again.
What filters should i change? They changed oil filter when i changed oil. Should i change air filter too? Fuel filter? Spark plugs?
Ohh...and thank you all for help so far. I realy apreciate it

Drive it till you get the CEL again and THEN use the OBDII reader. When you disconnected the battery you clear all the codes. Dont change anything untill you have some more information on what the problem might be.

I always try to use the KISS method of diagnosis ! Keep It Simple Stupid !
If you suspect a fuel filter, then change it out....they're cheap and you elliminate one suspect. Is the fuel cap tight ? Is it defective ? Have it tested.
A fuel pump would be a different story, you would need to take it to someone who is able to install a pressure gauge and read fuel pressure from the injector supply rail.
Point being, short of taking it somewhere and leaving it there are some things you can do without tying up the car indefinately.
