Default Wind noise - HELP

After 17 hours in my Crossfire this past weekend, I had heard about all the wind noise I could stand. It seems that the driver's side window does not roll up flush with the B-Pillar at the top of the window. The gap creates a vacuum sound. My dealer said that there was no adjustment for the window glass itself, only a TSB directing the dealers to "shim" the window seal so that it hopefully makes better contact with the glass. I love this car more than any car I have ever owned. But I have to drive long distances and the wind noise is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Let your dealer perform the TSB. The wind noise was driving me nuts also, and now I'm happy.

Thanks - real-world testing is the best indication of whether something will work. My Crossfire goes in Tuesday for the new stereo and the wind-noise TSB. I'll let you know what happens.

Default Wind noise TSB

Does anyone have any info on this TSB? My dealer seems to be a little hard to work with on this and it would be helpful to be able to point them to a known message.

Tell them to investigate and perform TSB 23-223-03. Call Airpark Chrysler in Scottsdale, AZ, 480-556-7450 and ask to speak to service advisor Maureen Working if they still don't get it. She didn't even flinch when I called, knew exactly what I was talking about.

I had the TSB performed. It really helped, but it didn't fully elminate the problem on the driver's side window. At least it's somewhat tolerable now.

I've noticed that the driver's window (when rolled up) is setting at a different angle from the glass behind the B-pillar. The window is at a perfet angle alignment when the window is not fully up; however, when you get to the last 1/2 inch rolling the window up, it appears to almost "pop out" from the body about 1/8th of an inch. I think this is the source of my ongoing problem, but no one seems to know how to fix this. The passenger side does not do this, by the way.

Any ideas???

Sounds like it isn't adjusted correctly. Mine was in Seven times for wind noise before it was resolved (most of which I think was on the dealer, but it isn't standard chrysler window, so it will probably take some puttering for them to get it right). Still have a tiny bit on the Driver's side (that I couldn't hear before for all the noise on the Pass'). But, its barely worth mentioning.

I'm a smoker, so the windows go up and down a lot. Especially that last inch or two from closed. No 'popping' into place, same smoothe motion as the rest of the way up or down. Both windows are (to the casual eye, at least) at the same angle as the fixed side-rears.

Brought mine to the dealership the next day after i bought it. Gave them the tsb but still didnt help the wind noise in my passenger side window. I decided to just plug the angle with a piece of black foam cut to its shape. Case closed on mine..no more wind noise and the car is much more quieter without any interference to the beautiful sound of my engine.

I got mine 6 days ago, wind noise starts around 70mph, is this normal or do I need to do this TSB?

Golgola:

That is the problem most of us have had.

The original TSB may fix it, as it did for many here, but D/C has also come out with a second TSB for this problem. Mine was worked on yesterday, and now it has been corrected.

The TSB numbers are listed in the TSB section of this forum.

Good luck!

Mine goes in this morning for the second time too and also for the spoiler that has started to squeal when going up. What was the final fix on your window... taking the door apart and adjusting the window?

I'm biting my nails of the thought of them tearing into the car, especially the spoiler.

AZ:

Yes, the second wind noise TSB involves opening up the doors and adjusting the windows. Mine came back fine.

I have the actual TSB's if you want them.

Thanks, I have the numbers... which they don't even like me knowing about. What I have started doing is write out the work I want done and give it to the service guy. Then I review what he writes down on the work order.

Here's the one for today:

May 28, 2004

Warranty Work Requested
VIN: 1C3-AN69LX4X-002815

„ Driverfs side window still has wind noise above 50 MPH coming from upper front corner.

NOTE: From the top front corner of the window and continuing back for 5-6 inches, the window is not properly seated against the inside seal. Check passengerfs window and other cars on your lot for comparison.

(There is a new TSB out you may want to consider: TSB 23-014-04... May 4, 2004).

„ Spoiler makes a noticeable squeak when it deploys at speed, sometimes louder than other times. It also does it gsometimesh when deployed manually while the car is sitting still.

Note: Lubricating the outside linkage is only a temporary fix at best. In my opinion, lubricating the outside linkage will attract more dust and dirt making the situation worse down the road. I request the enclosed motor and gear area be inspected first.

„ Check the radiator hose is not hitting the fan shroud as per the customer notification card received in the mail. (RC-D11-04... Issue Date: 04/2004)

Thank you,
AJ Card

It might be ****... but I'm tired of the attitude and crappy service. It's a CYA kind of thing.

Just picked up the car for the third time due to wind noise issues. The first time they found a tear in the seal around the window and replaced it. My wife picked it up and when I got home to test it out, it still had wind noise. Took it back a second time. This time they made some adjustments (TSB 23-014-04 was on the invoice). It was raining on the way home and I didn't notice any wind noise. This morning though the window noise is back. Brought it in a third time and the service manager said they can find nothing wrong. They said what I am hearing is the wind rushing by the outside mirror. Now I'm not expert, but that mirror looks pretty aerodynamic to me. I don't think at 40+mph it should sound like I have the window rolled down an inch. Also it doesn't happen on the passenger side, and last time I checked the mirrors were the same on both sides of the car. Not sure where to go from here. I think I will at least enjoy the car for the weekend and then take it back next week. I have a higher serial number, so I was hoping this problem had been corrected by now.
