Default Transmission Problem

I pulled out of the driveway yesterday and saw that there was a puddle of transmission fluid under the car (size of piece of notebook paper). Has anyone had any problems like this? This car has never leaked anything. The car has approximately 65K miles on it. Are there any recommendations in the DFW area (south part of town) for taking the car to have it checked? I would prefer to take it to someone familar with this car.

Thanks for the help,

If you can't get it done free, I would take it to Krause's automotive in Lewisville. I was a fly on the wall there for a few weeks as we worked on my V8 conversion and was amazed at how they treat their customers and beat the hell out of dealer prices. It was suprising to see them brag to each other about how much they undercut dealer quotes for the same work or how they tried to keep cost down. Their customers are the most loyal I have ever seen around an automotive shop.

This isn't a hard DIY procedure at all. VERY messy but not hard.

Be aware though that when inserting the black sleeve into the transmission that it should go in without force. The piece that the sleeve slips into is a plastic connector on top of the valve body and is held in place by two plastic tabs, one on the left, one on the right of the connector (inside the transmission).

Should you push too hard you might dislodge one of the pins and cause an electrical problem that you don't want! (Don't ask). If you finish and the car stays in limp mode, you messed it up.

Pictures and explanation one of these days.

Thanks for the responses. I am glad to see a community of people willing to help me solve a problem. Now all I need to do is get it fixed so I can let my daughter drive it again!

It might not be the transmission! My car is at Carmax having the steering box and the hose replaced.
