Default Battery Relocation

I was just curious if anyone has done one on a crossfire yet. I would like to relocate my battery to the trunk but I don't see a suitable mount place for the box. I was thinking about welding plate where the factory air compressor/tool kit sits to make a boxed in plate i could bolt the box to but would like to see what other people, if any, have done.

Found this post, This is the first I have heard of anyone doing so.
Certainly could help the battery from being cooked under the hood.

I would have to go out and check my trunk, but I know Optima makes a battery for automobiles that is small enough to go under seats and can lay sideways and things. This battery possibly could be small enough to go in the slot opposite the air compressor under the trunk cover for an extra clean look.

the way that guy has his done wouldnt pass tech for any sanctioned motorsports body. It has to be in an enclosure mounted to the car.

i already have an optima yellowtop as well as the relocation kit. There is no way to mount it properly to the trunk floor due to the hump in the middle, i'd have to box it in with plate in order to mount it properly and securely.

Im diong this because The battery and ecu enclosure are in the way of my turbo setup Im working on, by relocation the battery to the trunk i can move the ecu enclosure over to have enough room to run a single under the hood

I suppose I didn't know you were trying to pass race spec inspections I just thought you were trying to stealthily relocate to the trunk.

I suppose those optimas would work. I'll look at it later this week, building a battery cardboard mockup and seeing where i could put them, but regardless the battery has to be in an enclosure.

Nothing stealthy here, just making room and getting things ready so I can track the car when i'm done building it.

dont forget you need to vent the air from the sealed box outside of the cabin

id build the box on the drivers side of the trunk, pull out the trunk carpet and remove the big black foam insert and you will find a big spot for it. you will need to drill a hole to get the wires in and the vent out. the shuriken batteries we have would work great and can be mounted on its side as their is no liquid in them

Thats exactly where I was going to put it, I have an optima yellow top which is sealed, so I dont need to vent.

I wont run a battery wire outside the car, especially with how low I am. Thats just asking for trouble. I'll pull the interior and run it down the passenger side of the car inside the door sill.

We relocated it to the passenger side trunk, for more even weight distribution. The vacuum box that is there can be tucked under the ledge back there and it fits perfect. We went with an Optima Red top. I think there are pics in our gallery.

I would not be too sure of the no vent situation, all batteries emit fumes when in use and charging. The use of this type of battery does not prevent the basic electro chemical reaction and the resulting explosive gases in the trunk are not the safest way to travel.
We have liftoff ..... YIKES!

The optimas dont. They are solid cell batteries, no liquid so no fumes. plus they are sealed by optima.

I just need to go get my optima from my dad. I never used it so its been pulling duty in our race trailer, gotta give it credit, its like 6 years old and hasnt failed yet.

I think the hardest part about this hole thing is going to be running the positive cable up to the engine bay
