from what i have read the blue tops may be a bit aggresive on downshifting howard. if you want the smoothness your accostomed to this may not be what you are looking for. i think around 250$ for each solenoid.

I can't say that they stripped the screw ,the tech said it was turning but not backing out so they couldn't remove the adapter, I ask them to put it back together and I got my car out of there, the leak is very minimal but any leak bugs the crap out of me , so I will either do it myself of take to a independent transmission shop, we have several good ones in the area so thats where i'm at with the leak .... you live you learn .

Mike your right it was the 60's ,wonder if theres a gasket for leaking memory.....

Howard.

Howard.
It is quite possible that the brass insert that the screw goes into has somehow broken free from the plastic and is turning as the screw is turned. If the screw is just knurled then it may be easy to break the bond, but if it is tapered or somehow keyed in that would be tougher. If the insert is the part that is square at the back as in the picture then I would say it is stripped not loose.

Someone called "me". Here's what happened.

When doing my connector it would not align so I "helped" it.

Reference the picture above (post 23)
Here is what can go wrong if you provide too much "help" in putting the sleeve in.

The circle on the left is where the pin came out of the slot (just below it). There is another pin on the right side also. Together they hold the connector in place until you "help" too much.

The bottom circle shows where the runs broke when the connector twisted. You can also see where things are shorted on the left side runs. You will know that you did it wrong when you put the car in gear and you are in limp mode.

I'm leaning more toward the possability that the brass may be turning too ,hoping that with slight pressure pulled against adapter maybe it will back out ,I don't think they attempted to do this because the car was only on the rack a very short time.... ,,,SO HOPE IN ONE HAND CHECK BOOK IN OTHER

I took my car to the dealer today to get the trans connector plug fixed and they had the same problem with the bolt. They have to drop the pan and remove the valve body and replace the piece that's inside the transmission. $764.00 for the part and new filter, fluid and labor. . What away to spend my 3 year anniversary with my XFire.

Same isssue here. My dealer quoted me $1400 for the part in the transmission. Do you have a part number? I'd like to tell the dealer what it is, what the cost is and then take it somewhere else.

It sounds like they're trying to charge you for whole valve body which is $1,360.00. You only need the top part of the valve body. I think this is the part# 5097219AA (about $260.00) for your car. My part# was different because it's a SRT. They will also have to replace the fluid and filter.

Thanks for your quick reply and the great info. One other follow-up question for you. In your situation, did they have to break off the connector -- and when they broke off the connector did it only affec the top part of the valve body? If that's the case, I expect my situation would be just like yours and I can go back with them with this suggestion.

Thanks again.

Yes, they have to break it on the outside so they can remove the the valve body from inside the transmission to replace the top part of the valve body that the connector bolts to.
