I looked these up on Car-Part.com for the slk320, and all I see is an aluminum compact spare.
Don't know it that would effect the bolt length, and I seriously doubt I could fit this in my roadster trunk with the top down, so probably a moot point for me.

I'll just have to stick with the tow truck.

Good investigative reporting 180. I wonder if steveb8699 has a SRT6 or an NA. That could mean the difference right there.
See post above, I was still searching when you posted.

Good point Dave. I recall checking for lug bolt clearance at the rear and the lug bolt comes to about 10mm from the park brake shoe return springs.

Great work 180.
This is the reason that I want to see the size on the inflatable. Also, I found a few today that were 17 inch........so I want to have a good idea before I purchase one.

search car-part.com, 'Mercedes SLK', 'wheel w/image', choose '170 Type, SLK230, 16x4-1/2 (alum, spare) ', then look for ones listed for SLK320.

Several listed $75 - $100 ...

Because of the SRT6 calipers, I found some 17 & 18 inch I'm going to look at first.

A few months back I Drive 1200+ miles to Florida from NY.

Car runs great, tires perform better than expected on arrival.

Pull out of the driveway next day for a local cruise with the top down, and hear that telltale ticking sound coming from the rear driver side.

Hopng it was a rock caught in the thread, but it turned out to be a sheet metal screw.

A spare alway interested me cause I'll be making that 1200 mile trip a few times a year, but the Roadster poses an impossible situation, even with the top up.

Even if I could fit a donut in the trunk, what would one do with the regular sized wheel that just came off. The passenger seat is not an option if someone is sitting in it.

I check the tires religiously, and have learned to live with no spare.

(And NYC streets are like going 4 wheeling on a good day...LOL...)

You know, I was actually considering getting one of those collapsible donuts until I read kodebuster's comment :

I hadn't even thought if that. I am not about to leave a $200 wheel and $200 tire on the roadside, so I guess that spare idea is not workable for me and my roadster.

Guess I could always do what BLACKSRT-6 did and put a trailer hitch on along with a trailer designed for a motorcycle and put a 19", an 18" and a spare trailer tire in that.
NOT !!!
( he uses his to carry his autocross wheels/tires to the races, so for him it makes sense )

Hi J,
Do you know if the lug pattern is the same for both the 18" front and 19" wheels? If so, is there a mini spare that could be used for front and back?
Thanks,
Tony Palmer

You can't be serious can you? They said the lug pattern was different? You believed them?
Do you have a brain? Both cars use exactly the same components underneath.
If you get yourself an SLK 230 (not 320) spare it will work as a spare just fine.

Does anyone know if there is an after market product available? i'm concerned with getting a blow out and being stranded.I know towing is available but thats no solution and the repair kit is not going to help.

looking forward to hear from our technicians and informed members as to what they are doing.
