Default Sprint Booster on the V8... Wow!

I just installed the selectable Sprint Booster on my car. Ever since I put the V8 in I have had to do frequent throttle resets. It seems driving to not get a ticket realy made a big difference in throttle response. Much more so than when I had the original engine in the car. After each reset it seemed so much faster.

I tried to install the SB with the two screw method but had trouble getting the plug off. So I removed the 10mm nut but did not mess with the washer. this allowed the pedal just enough movement to get a better grip on the plug.

Before starting it up with the new SB, I did a throttle reset and then put the SB in the red position. Wow! A little too much. It must have looked to the neighbors like I didn't know how to drive! I then decided to try green. This was a huge improvement over stock. After having a little fun I put it back on red and gradually got used to just barely tocuhing the throttle. This is a great mod but still not sure if red is a good idea with a V8 with all the low end torque. Every time you barely give it the gas you get jerked back pretty hard and having the traction control kick in when leaving your driveway isn't too cool with the neighbors!

Rookie! LOL

I had to chuckle when I read your story. It reminded me of my first and only motorcycle I bought. I wasn't used to the clutch and throttle and zinged across the road down a small ditch and up the hill to end up sitting in the field...looking back at the wife who was following in the car and just saw it in her eyes...I knew you shouldn't get that damn thing.

But I'd say with the V8 you finally approached it the right way with easing into using it. Like last year, I'd like to see your beast, so hopefully you are going to make it to the Colorado CAA this summer.

You are right Lantana... A sprint booster for the v8 might not be a good thing. I don't have the selectable version and honestly I didnt really notice a difference with the stock engine. But with the V8 installed it is not an easy car to drive. Paul drove my car from WI to MI so he had the oppertunity to compare his car without a sprint booster to mine with one installed (he didnt know I had it in there) and there is a world of difference. I don't think he like it... haha. I have not had the seat time to get the feel for the car yet to test it out due to snow.

Last night I went for a drive and decided to keep it in red and I actually got used to it. I read the green is the same as the non selectable SB. Red gives you the response of a top fuel funny car. After drivining stop light to stop light for about ten miles, I got the feel of it and was able to put it back in the garage without driving it throught the back of the garage. It is definitely a fun thing to have.
