Default Exhaust Leak?

I've only had my coupe 4 weeks. It was at the dealer last week to fix the wind noise and to replace a front rim which was scratched when I bought the car. After I picked up the car I noticed it sounded different on the drive home. It has a ticking noise which is consistent with the RPMs. It also has a sucking sound when I step on the accelerator. It is most noticeable around 2,000rpm. And it seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine. I have an appointment to take it back to the dealer, but they didn't seem to know offhand what it could be. I've read elsewhere on the net that it could be an exhaust leak. Does this sound like the cause? Is this something simple to diagnosis and fix? I just would like to be able to give the dealer an idea of where to look without them having to tear the car apart. Thanks.

If it's an exhaust leak it should be very easy to detect. As for if it will be easy to fix..... It all depends on where the leak is and what's causing it. It could be as easy as tightening a bolt. Or as big a pain as changing an exhaust manifold ( if it had a crack, bad gasket, etc.)

I picked up my car today. They said they can't find anything wrong. They said the noise I hear is just "standard valve noise". They listened to another Crossfire and said it sounded the same. I'm still not convinced though. Had I not been late for a meeting this afternoon I would have made them start up another Crossfire so I could hear for myself. Does anyone else hear a lot of valve or rocker arm ticking during idle or when accelerating? I only have a couple hundred miles on it, perhaps the valves need to seat themselves during the break-in period?

No ticking here. I'm wondering if someone might have put 87 or 89 octane gas in it and what you are hearing is pinging? That would cause the noise you are describing, especially during acceleration.

The 'valve noise' issue was brought up before on here. Simply stated- It would be impossible for me to say if your vehicle is noisy or normal without hearing it.

click, click, click, click, click - perfectly timed with the rpm's here - but the noise seem intermittent....

I also thought about the gas. I've only filled it up 4 times since I took delivery of it. One of those was 89 octane, the other 3 where 93 octane. I also thought it might be the brand of gas. I normally use Shell, but someone else recommended Amoco Gold.

After I found the other post on this issue (thanks Jamikest), I see that I am not alone. It appears that they were also told it is normal noise, so I guess I will live with it. At least my wind noise problems help to conceal the valve noise.
