XF stalled 3 times yesterday... ideas?
MY wife was driving the xf yesterday and the engine stalled on 3 separate occasions while idling at a stoplight. It immediately started back up after stalling. Anyone have a similar issue? could this be a crankshaft sensor issue, or potentially a fuel pump problem? The engine is showing no codes at all.

My vote is the CPS, but the RCM will give you trouble sooner or later, if not now....
I'm just giving the "no cel" some creditability .. LOL. But even then it would be next on the list.. I recall when johns SRT gave him problems and it was the cps he wasn't getting a cel thrown from it!
I had the same issue a few months ago. It gets rather annoying when you get paranoid at every stop. At first mine would start back up, but then it got to the point were it wouldn't at times. I was stranded in an intersection for a good 5 minuets before it cranked back up. No CEL were thrown for me either.
I would first do what Mrmiata said and check the solder points. If that's not the problem then replace the CPS. I bought one from ebay for $15 and it has been working well so far.

An update. took a short trip for coffee yesterday morning, came out and engine would not start. After about an hour, it started. This time the check engine light came on, and a diagnostic check does reveal a CPS problem. I've got one on order ($50 w/shipping). My neighbor who is a Mercedes tech checked the parts price at his work and it was over $200. Thanks for everyone's help. I still plan to check the solder points also, just in case.

This applies doubly to the crank shaft position sensor.
The OEM is Bosch.
