Outside possibilities :
1. Camshaft position sensor.
2. SKREEM module ( as in thread about ignition key and module )
3. Fuel pressure ( there is a port on the fuel rail front passenger side of the engine, when it won't crank, just remove the cap and press the valve with a match or something and see if you get a face full of fuel )

Basically, if an engine turns over with the starter and won't fire, then it's usually one of these problems :
1. spark
2. fuel
3. timing
4. compression

Just a thought, if you have a second key, try it. One member had a key simply bite the dust, and the motor would crank and crank and crank, but never once fired. The security module was interrupting the signal because the key, although it fit, was not recognized.

No. The battery / lock / unlock / panic functions have nothing to do with starting.
There is a little chip in the fob that is not powered by the battery, but is activated and queried by the SKREEM through the little circular antenna around the ignition key.

I'm very interested to see the outcome of this thread. OP, very sorry to hear about your situation and wish you the best of luck with the solution. Starting problems in this car are one of my owner nightmares, since I'm a fan of long road trips.

It may be one in a million.. but what are the chances of the new bosch CPS being defective? Work at a salvage.. chances of pulling another from a car just for sh*ts and giggles?

After seven posts in another thread you decide to ask the same questions again in a new thread, why would anyone bother to post their replies again?

I too wonder about the fuel pressure, the service manual says it should be something over 45 psi.

But one thing, I had a weird problem with my Durango once, and it has happened to some Crossfires, too. Bad battery!
Does your car TRY to start, but can't seem to keep running? If so, read on:

This is what it would do:

1) Turn key, engine spins and starts.
2) Release key - engine dies right away.
3) I think, "What the hell?"

Try 1 and 2 over and over - no good. I think, "What the HELL?"

Call the hook, guy tows it to our favorite garage. Mechanics spend 1 1/2 hours, can't make it run. I pull up in my van, some old guy says, "trade batteries between his van and Durango". They do. Now, the van AND the Durango start.

Switch batteries back. Now the van still runs, but the Durango won't start.

Put Durango battery on draw tester - checks good!

They give up: They replace the two year old Durango battery - engine starts and I drive away.

There is SOMETHING about all the electronics in cars today. Even so, maybe before you change the battery, (if you go this route) you should clean and tighten the battery terminals and inspect the battery ground cable connection at the opposite end from the battery.

I know it sounds nuts, Just saying....

I use that quite a bit when I know I've seen a post from one of you gurus and need to find it again, but today it isn't working (for me anyway). I just get a screen that tells me Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms, or something goofy like that.

It's not so much a waste of time but you get two threads answered by different people and the tale gets split into two.

What he said.. Found myself dancing between 2 or 3 threads at on point trying to help a new member.. "it does this" in one thread.. "it does that" in another.. etc.

Decided it wasn't worth my time trying to track it all down and resolved to my re-run of 2 1/2 men..

Have you had the codes read, no mention of that so far in the thread. Cheaper to buy a code reader than keep buying parts that do not fix the car.
