I know it won't compare at all ... but I want it closer to that then the other way. Before I got my crossfire, I was looking at the Genesis Coupe and was about to buy one that was "pre-modified" by the owner of the dealership. One of the many things it had was a MagnaFlow exhaust, and I liked the sound of it.

My father-in-law has a '69 Charger, so that is where the reference came from. More to say that I like the deeper rumble then the crappy "let's see how loud and obnoxious I can be" that some people go for. (Sorry if I am offending anyone by saying that!)

LOL.. Me and my Miata are not offended.. Never forget when I raced a honda at lunch.. guys in the shop said it sounded like two angry bumble bees going at it.. running a stainless steel "cherry bomb" on it..

I'm planning on gutting my stock muffler (do a search if interested).. supposedly better sounding and no drone.

Got the Miata when I feel the need for that..

Sprint booster and needs wings cai is the best two mods full stop! Euro ecu tune and the 74mm tb mod to go with the tune. From my exp keep the stock muffler high flow mufflers feel like you loose torque in first and second gear enjoy!

A NeedsWings single CAI alone will make your automatic run like a 6spd. in the 1/4 mile. (In other words, it will make your car about 1/2 sec. quicker). Doesn't sound like much, but it actually is. Probably the biggest improvement over any other performance mod you can do for the price.
As MrMiata said, nothing short of a V8 swap will ever give you the sound you really want, if you're hoping for anything like the 69 Charger.
By the way, do you have any photo's of your Father-in-laws car? What shade of green is it?

Will a double make any real improvement over a single, or just looks better?

I know it won't sound anything like it, but I don't want it to sound like MrMiata's bumblebee either. I don't have any pictures of it. It is a beautiful jet black with a 440 engine. It is a fun car, but ridiculously high maintenance (the downside to having an old car). Maybe I can get some pictures the next time I am at their house. The funny thing is that the license tag is "NOT 4 HER" referring to my wife.

There is even better airflow with the double but the NA can't capitalize on it so you won't see the gains you have going from the stock to single.. Allegedly single vs double makes no difference, but aesthetics wise I think the double looks a lot better so that's what I went with

For the exhaust, search youtube and listen to some examples. Ansa is an option that gives a nice European sound.. other than that, Magnaflow seems to be the most popular

I agree that it looks better, and for the extra couple hundred, you might as well do it right.

I have never heard of Ansa before. Listening to videos, they seem to have a really good sound to them (much smoother than the MagnaFlow). I was looking for them online, and only find muffler and tips. Do they have a full exhaust system, or is that all? Also, where is a good place to get them?

Just curious, how much do you think that would cost?

I knew that I would regret not getting the dual everytime I looked under my hood, so I went for it (when they were on sale so it wasn't as hard to stomach). The Ansa is just a muffler and its kind of rare/expensive. Search around the forum but I think the part# is UN0827.

As far as the V8 conversion goes, $20k seems to be the going estimate

As they say, if you have to ask you cannot afford it.
But I'm never sure who they are.

Sounds like a real beauty, 68 and 69 Chargers are my favorite.
I was just joking about the color. When you're talkin old MoPars, it seemed like 50% of the time they were green when they came from the factory.lol
Not quite sure what ya mean about "high maintenance". The "wedge" motor MoPars were pretty much bullit proof. Now if it was a Hemi, (that had solid lifters, and two 4bl. carbs to keep adjusted) I wouldn't have said anything.
I have a 1969 AMX (that I purchased brand new) and it's never been costly to maintain, or ever been what I would call high maintenance, (even as it got older).
But next summer, if gas goes over $4.00 per gal. It will be kind of expensive to enjoy, but old muscle cars are oh so worth it.
My Daughter would really be upset with me, if I had that license plate on my "Classic car".

Well we're on the same page there! '68 #1 though.

When I was about 5 my mom was divorced and being a small town with 3 kids dateing wasn't a priority. But I'll never forget one of her friends had a '68 Dodge Charger..Think I was about 10 at this time.. 440 magnum automatic. Yellow with the black vinyl top. We were doing 35 down the road and he punched it.. started barking tires and kicked sideways. At that age, well I was very impressionable!

But that was long ago and back in Texas. A few years back there was one at the Jiffy lube around the corner from my moms house in Tulsa... Daddy bought it for his son I'm sure.. One black beauty that looked flawless from 20 feet away.

It just seems like little things get screwed up here and there quite often. The trunk wouldn't open, some other piece brakes, etc. Nothing big, just little things every few months, that are just a pain in the ***, but won't stop the car. He also is a bit OCD when it comes to his babies. So a little scuff in the paint, it has to go into the shop to get buffed out. The shop he goes to has a backup supply of the paint because you cannot get it any more (I believe he said it is leaded paint). The engine was put in within the last 8 years or so when the whole "I've got a Hemi" was really popular, but decided not to go with one.

That is the part number. Why did you tell me of this brand? It is easy to get Magnaflow or Borla, but you have to get me interested in something that isn't so easily acquired. I cannot find it anywhere online for sale. I submitted a contact request to Ansa though.

So maybe a few years down the road when I wear out this engine.

Maybe because they supply Ferrari? And other exotics.

$211.60 is much cheaper than the $550 - $700 for the MagnaFlow exhaust system. When people are putting the Ansa Mufflers on, are they leaving the stock pipes?

Up to you what you want to do with the pipes, I'm assuming most leave them stock on the N/A but you could have as much fun as you want to. I don't think the Magnaflow system does much in the way of hp over the stock anyway... but someone who has exhaust work can chime in here
