Lightbulb Quick Mods for Performance

I have had my 2008 Crossfire for about a year, and it has just over 19k miles on it. I am wanting to start doing some mods and make it more of a performance car to play with now that I have been using our Optima more for everyday driving. Personally I won't be doing the work on it, I am going to have someone else do them. I also don't plan to do everything at once.

So, what are some quick mods to increase performance to start, and then what are some more detailed things to do? Also, how much are they going to cost? I don't mind putting a significant amount of money into my car, but just want an idea of how much it will cost.

I'd say the EC tune is probably going to be the biggest kick for a single upgrade probably be running a sale on it soon with the new software!

Throttle body upgrade to 74MM will add a little more pep, and then you can upgrade the intake system as you see fit. (I'm just running K&N filters and noticed a nice little increase with Throttle body and descreening-debaffleing of the MAF housing and elbow)

EC tune around $350
Throttle body and larger MAF housing around $140 top of scale (patiently waited and got mine around $75 total)

First question : is it an SRT6 or not ?
Lots of options for the SRT6, not so much for the N/A ( Normally Aspirated )

Second question : What is your location ?

Just looked it up. The guy wants $650.00 for the tune and cable....! Is it really worth it?

Wait for the sale.. they seem to have one about every 6 months .. and with the new software release it is probably around the corner.. think the recent post on it is looking at $350 ..

1) It is not the SRT6 (I don't think the 2008 came in anything but the N/A).
2) I am located in Florida (Vero Beach)

How does the EC tune work. (I obviously have no idea about how to do any work on a car) Is it something that they send you, then it is simple to do (or have someone else do)?

As with the last question, is that something that anyone who works on cars would know how to do if I took it to them, or is there something more to it?

You can't forget the $5 for the sticker.

Yea, stupid me, should have caught that 2008 ....

Anyhoo, +1 to MrMiata.

1. EuroCharge tune : http://www.eurocharged.com/products/...oftware-detail
2. CAI ( single or dual, Rob ( NeedsWings ) says single is fine for the N/A engine, the dual is just for bling.
3. 74mm throttle body ( A113 141 0125 ) ( and a new O ring - Mopar Part 05102933AA NONE O RING )
4. sprint booster
5. paddle shift kit ( if yours is an automatic )

Also, I was just looking on the EC website. What is the "Stage 1 Power Package: 55 Series AMG" ($2,500) or "C63 Performance Engine Software" ($1,200) that they have listed on their website under Crossfire Tuning?

I know you know better.. Just had to call you on it.. LOL

Sprint booster not really a performance upgrade.. Just enables a quicker throttle response, and I've read the tune will do this also to a degree..
Same for paddle shifter.. Just more toys for your toy...

I've got some tubes and filters coming in to play with.. plan on data logging cfm and temps .. vrs rpm.. free flowing intake should see an increase at specific rpm's.. If an "HAI" is better than the stock setup then I'm on board for under $50. Going to do a 50/50 test with it (half stock-half modified) and see where temps and cfm's etc. go.

klb.kenneth : you will find that on this forum, sometimes, but not often, we may not be completely accurate.
That's why we have members like MrMiata to keep people like me honest, and other members like onehundred80 to keep HIM honest.

I was looking at doing the dual CIA already.

I also was looking at doing a magraflow exhaust (and brembo breaks when I feel like dropping a few grand). Any opinions on those?

And you'll also find most members have there little "niche" of expertese ..

And 180 is just a walking encylopdia of the Crossfire.. LOL

Exhaust will only change tone.. no performance increase..

I don't like the price of the Dual CAI.. LOL.

As I said before, I want to make it into something I can play with more. So even though the don't
"boost performance" I think the paddle shifters and sprint boosters are a good thing to maybe get.

Use search, there's a guy been trying to sell an unused set of stoptek brakes lately.
( this is NOT a recommendation, just info )

Magnaflow, borla exhaust cat back kit, some like one, some the other, some roll their own ....

Rob ( NeedsWings ) currently has a good deal on the MagnaFlow : http://www.needswings.com/MagnaFlow-...tem-16633.aspx

Is this by chance a roadster ?

Stoptech breaks are only for the 2004 & 2005 (at least based on what I am finding).

I am trying to get as close as possible to the sound of the old muscle cars (think '69 Charger). Obviously, it is a different kind of car, but I like the sound (definitely not the crappy high pitch exhausts that some people put on their "tricked out" Civic). So what would get me closest to that?

No, it is a coupe. I'm not a fan of convertibles in general.

.
Speakers mounted under the car and decent sound system?

I don't think anything will give these cars a deep throaty rumble.. short of a V8 swap..

Lots of vids on youtube of muffler mods.. deletes etc.

I "get it" that you love your 2008 Crossfire but you're thinking / talking of spending several thousand dollars for relatively minimal performance enhancement gains? IMHO your best performance improvement investment would be to sell your 2008 Crossfire and find / buy a clean low mileage 2005 SRT6. The SRT6 is a super bargain in the current used car marketplace.
