HELP! My 06 has a door chime that sounds when the door is open - even if the key is out. Can anyone tell me how to make it stop or is this normal?

No lights are on and no my hatch is not open. It's nothing obvious

 

Is your ignition working properly? If you don't hear a 'click' when you remove your key, the car thinks the key is still in, and the chime will remind you...

 

I'm having the same problem. It started after I fooled around trying to get garage remote programed (unsuccessfully). I've checked all the latches, lights, and other obvious things. What gives?

 

Do you have the steering wheel locked in position? That's the latch under the steering wheel to lock the telescoping column.

 

If that microswitch is bad, I'd just live with it.

I checked that out. Door still chimes when open.

 

I just checked mine out and the only time the warning chime comes on is when I leave the lights on or the key in the ignition. Stays on while the door is open.

 

I have tried all the suggestions except disconnecting the battery which will happen when I put it away for the winter. I've also tried another key to see if that might trigger the switch differently. If it's just a used car gremlin attack, I can live with it. But it is a strange thing to just start up for no reason.

 

Maybe my electric charger wasn't enough. Took a ride today and after 30 miles when I opened the door, SILENCE! That is all I can figure as I'm confident the chiming wasn't a door or light issue.
