Ok so I noticed my raidiator fan is not coming on. Ive searched all over for a 50 amp fuse mentioned in several other posts and unable to locate anything larger than 40 amps. I turned on the ac and the fan still didn't come on but keep in mind it was 39 degrees outside. I disconnected the fan and checked for continuity and it was infinite (0 ohms) the fan spins freely by hand. So what I need to know is wheres the fan control module and what are the testing procedures. Also are there any other common failure points related to this issue? Thanks

 

0 ohms is not infinite, it's the opposite of infinite!

The FCM is right there on the fender wall, the cable from the fan connects directly to it.

The test is simple: unplug the fan and, using clip leads, etc, connect it to the battery directly - if the fan runs, the motor is fine.

A completely failed FCM will light the low coolant/radiator light. A partly failed FCM will not light the light and won't run the fan, either.

The 50 amp fuse is in the little square "engine fuse block" next to the battery. One 50A goes to the Pulse module and one to the FCM, the 200A feeds the rest of the car.

 

No matter the temp outside, turning the A/C on makes the fan run at low speed.

I've been on the forum four years, the number of bad fan motors is too high to count, the number of bad FCMs: 2 so far that I know of.

Just sayin....

 

I think you have the numbers reversed, the FCM often goes.

Thank you for the clarification pizza lol. I located the fuse and it tests good so now im going to jump the fan and see what happens.

 

I'm not saying it isn't the fan motor in this case, far from it. I think that the module goes t!ts up more than the motor, that's just my impression by the posts I have seen.

 

At what engine coolant temp should the fan kick on?

 

Jump the fan.
If it works it is the FCM at fault.
It should come on with the AC.

But to directly answer you, when the needle gets to just over 1/2. But if you turned the A/C on and the fan didn't run slowly, something is wrong.

 

I'm having the same issue. Just bought a new radiator fan but it's still not turning on, even with full A/C. I can't find the FCM anywhere online and I'd rather skip the dealer.
