clicking in the rear end
Please help. Today I was changing wheels and tires and noticed a clicking noise coming from the car end. I thought it was my Mandrus Milleniums I was putting on. After i put stock wheels back on the noise was still there. The noise started all of sudden and cant figure what it is. thanks very much for help
Usually this type of issue has to do with the length of the lug bolts. When installing aftermarket wheels often the stock lug bolts are too long. Are you using the stock lug bolts and the clicking occurred with both the custom wheels and the stock wheels?
Well in the beginning stock rims wasn't click when driving the car for awhile. Once I put aftermarket wheels and tightened them the clicking noise started. So I took off the aftermarket wheels and put stock wheels back on the clicking noise continued but not as loud. Thanks for help.

I am using stock bolts. like I said there was no noise. As soon as I put the aftermarket wheels which are Mandrus Milleniums on the noise started. Continued after I put the stocks wheels can back on.
With the new wheels, the length of both that was threaded through the hub was greater than with the stock wheels and you most certainly damaged the parking brake components. The reason they are not making as much noise now is it's just the the stuff is just bouncing around off the side of the drum vs being continuously struck with the extra length of the lug bolts.
Sorry to not have better news for you.

You'll need to remove the rear rotors and determin what parts are damaged. You could be lucky and only need to buy new shoes but I'm guessing you're gonna need more than that. To remove the rotor, you will need to remove the calipers as well but you can do so without disconnecting anything, just remove the bolts, wiggle the caliper off the rotor, remove the torx bolt that is holding the rotor onto the hub and start looking at what's going on behind the hub.
Good luck and you have my number so feel free to call me Tuesday should you have any questions.

Grip grip. DAMN IS RIGHT. That's what happens when you get work done by neighborhood redneck mechanic. Thought it was hitting the backing plate.

I've done the face palm many times in my garage. It happens, don't be too down.
Here's what my engine looks like right now, and who's to say I won't be in a similar situation myself real soon.

I just PM'd Jim's son-in-law about it. Look in my recent posts and you'll see his post and contact info.
