Default Hissing Sound from rear!

Hi All,

In the last couple of days I have noticed a hissing sound from the top of the boot/trunk. It seems to only happen when I lock and unlock the car using the key.

Its been raining quite abit in the last few days, and wondered if that could have caused anything?

Everything works ok, but just wondered what this could be.

Many Thanks

This is where you need to start. It is likely that water is (and probably has been) leaking into the trunk area and has now flooded your Central Locking Pump. If you catch it quickly enough you may be able to "save" the Central locking pump. Once water gets into this area it does not drain out by itself . . Take off the rear trim panel in your trunk and take off the right side trunk trim panel. Lift out the styrofoam piece and you'll see the area (as pictured below) that you need to check. If it's full of water open up a drain plug and drain it out. Open up the central locking module and try to dry it out. Also get yourself some dielectric silicone compound grease (available at most auto parts stores). Clean up all the connectors and apply dielectric grease to the connections before reconnecting the wiring harnesses.

Review further information in the post link below.

Headlight headache...do you have water in you trunk?

Start with this. Complete checking this area / drying everything out / cleaning up the well area / cleaning all the connectors and applying the dielectric grease before reconnecting the wiring. When you have that done let us know how everything turned out . . .

Then you'll need to seal up the areas that allowed the water to intrude. (likely around the rear wing and wing deck). Do you have a coupe or roadster? SRT6 or NA?

The hissing sound is most likely the pneumatic line that actuates the lock in the hatch, the line is probably cracked and has not broken completely if the hatch still locks. If the hatch does not lock then it is broken entirely. You should replace the line with a better quality one or put a tight fitting sleeve over it.
The break will be in or near the rubber corrugated boot at the top of the hatch. Listen for which one it is.

Hey Dave . . . I hope you're right. That would certainly be an easier fix

Just been out to look and it seems to be coming from the rubber sleeve area at the top of the hatch near the hinge. If I put a tight sleeve around that, would that stop the hissing or would I need to remove that then put the tight sleeve?

Thank you.

You will need to repair the yellow air tube INSIDE the rubber sleeve.

Thank you.
You have to take the sleeve out on one end at least and repair the air line that is hidden inside it.

Hi All,

Many thanks for all your replies.

Now it seems that I have a bigger problem than yesterday.

I took the car to my local garage to take a look at the hose.............but the boot/trunk wont open at all now. Cant hear it locking and unlocking, but I can hear the hissing noise still.

How do I open the boot to fix the hose issue?

Thank you
