Default Does this sound right re Autobox Torque Convertor

Auto Box Torque Convertor slip (sound like going over a cattle grid) between 50-60KPH very occasionally when changing up in humid weather. Lasts for about a second.

Just been to see my auto box mechanic again and he says these gearboxes do do this and he would not do anything as it can go away. If the convertor or solenoid packs up you will know and that’s the time to repair it.
Does this sound right ??

The W5A580 is extremely sensitive to the quality of the transmissions fluid. Even with the slightest hint of water in the fluid (as low as 0.05%) the transmission can start shuddering. If you experience shuddering with your transmission, try changing out the fluid with new fluid and be sure to replace the internal filter, too.

Thanks syfi, the fluid was changed only 2-3 months ago with the filter when my 722.6 plate was replaced. The plug was also changed, but it did leak 3 weeks later from the new plug so he fitted new seals again and all been good for the last 4--5 weeks. Seems that this is common with these o rings, even new ones !!. No leak now all dry. I did get him to check the old level again this morning and it was all ok and clean as it should be. What you say syfi does now make me think humidity because we have had the most horridness humidity here for the last few weeks when it started and it is very intermittent which again is making me think the air is making a difference. Just hard to believe they are so sensitive.

The new fluid should be the correct fluid as prescribed by Mercedes/Chrysler. The wrong fluid can cause problems they say.

Yep, he is a Auto Box mechanic and does a lot of hot rods and said he filled with Merc oil so hopefully it is correct. Out late last night and early this morning with no humidity and car ran perfectly. Thinking more and more that he may be right.
