Default Idiot, put battery in backwards.

Hey guys. I made a huge mistake while it was dark outside and put my battery in backwards.. I realized as soon as I connected it hurried and switched it around and now I've been having all sorts of problems...

So I replaced my alternator when my new battery died on me while driving to work , from they're I had to get it taken into my mechanic my BAS ESP light comes on once I start driving and the engine temperature gauge was almost red lining... Also my stereo won't turn on anymore..
Anyone have an idea of what I could potentially look at or help my mechanic find? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

NOT GOOD, my only suggestion would be to disconnect the battery for a couple of hours and hope everything resets!

If the car runs, count yourself fortunate. You can check EVERY fuse, and you should. Many devices and modules have reverse-polarity protection that will blow fuses in such situations. Frankly, after 31 years in component-level electronic troubleshooting, I am surprised the car runs.

I believe there is an additional fuse on the back of hte radio head unit. Yank the head out (using the $3 tool you can get at WalMart) and check that fuse. If it is good and the fuses in the fuse panel are good, it is time for a new Radio. That is about a $150 solution and you will like what you get.

Thanks for the responses guys, my head unit is after market is the fuse deeper inside with the wiring or on the original stereo? Also checked all the fuses they all seem good, so hopefully once they fix my cooling problem, maybe just a new radiator? Everything will be okay at least I hope so

Maybe the overheating problem is due to the fan not running, not the radiator.

Yeah the mechanic got back to me and is ordering in a new fan, says it will be about $489 Seems steep to me, what are your thoughts? i was thinking of buying one online and replacing it myself if any of you have had the experience and know how difficult it is. (Brakes is about the hardest thing I've done)

The fan and housing is fastened by 2 little clips at the top, that's it. Disconnect the electrical connection, drivers side, undo the 2 clips and pull it out, There are locating pins on the bottom but you can easily tell when they are in the right place on installation.

And he is for sure it is the fan motor and not the fan controller?

I agree. The fan wouldn't care if the polarity were reversed, the controller would.
Simply test : remove the fan assembly and connect direct to battery, making sure your fingers aren't close to the blades.

I would start with bleeding and flushing the old fluid out.

Are you always this grumpy 180? Again, you are critical of my posts. Please offer soulintent your solution even if you don't like mine. A BAS light only on when pressure is applied indicates a pressure differential to me.

Have you read the whole post?
Another thread you answered had brake fluid problems, not this one.

You can waste space being critical of what I say or you can be productive and help soulintent. I was addressing this point from soulintent.. "only problem I have left....... once I start to drive and apply brake pressure." Again, to me this sounds like a brake pressure difference problem.

So your fix for our poster is.........
