It's a pity you have a CPS that is not a genuine Bosch part as a spare. Maybe you might have needed it one day.
I have both, the one from china that got me a refund and another that I ordered from info here.
Thanks.
Will change tomorrow.
Thanks.
Will change tomorrow.
I am guessing the car cranks but does not start correct?
Key turns the switch and all electronics work.
The motor does not turn over, just dead.
Gonna try replacing the cps as onehundred80 suggested.
Will keep ya posted and thanks for the input.

cps..crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor
I have a Bosch crankshaft sensor that I am going to replace but could the problem be the camshaft sensor??
Best seller for the camshaft sensor??
Thanks

If the motor does not turn over at all, it is NOT either CPS, cam or crank. They do nothing until the motor is turning.
What we have here is :
1. The RCM, either bad solder joints ( MOST LIKELY ) or a FUBAR relay - search "Mystery No Start"
2. Something going on with the pulse module ( the thing that engages the starter motor, then disengages it when the motor is running.)
These problems have been found to involve the brake switch on manuals, wiring, or the pulse module itself.
The fellow over in Mississippi found it to be a wiring issue.

When describing problems it is the important to give all the details.
To those who do not know may not realize how important the little details can be.
Not starting can mean lots of things.
Explain exactly what is happening and then you have a much better chance of diagnosing it the first time.

Sorry if I did not provide enough info.
Key turns in switch, all electronics come on.
Motor does not turn over.
Finall found a scanner, and used it, code was for crank sensor.
Installed my back up Bosch and now it starts.
Now looking at having the RCM re soldered, someone here does that???
Have to find out what the FUBAR is.
Thanks for all your help

Replaced the CPS, Bosch for Bosch, no junk.
Started it a few times, went nowhere just checking it out.
Went to store and......... no start, same problem.

Dtinker is doing his magic on a replacement RCM for me.
Any other ideas????????
Thanks

Bob, the CPS will not cause these symptoms, it does not start generating signals UNTIL the flywheel is turning.
This is classic RCM, either the 3 solder points or a flaky engine relay.
Probably not the fuel relay, as it would momentarily start, then die if that was the bugger.
