'05 crossfire
I have 2005 Crossfire that I purchased It has not be serviced in 2 or 3 years and driven very little, the car has only 52000 miles when I go to start it sounds good but after it warms up has a ticking noise sounds like its on driver side and sounds like its up top of engine any advise or suggestions what it might be, the oil looks good but I am sure it has not been changed in at least 2 years thanks for any help or suggestion that can be given to me. Thanks You Gary
sounds normal but it should have clink, click ,click, click, click not just a one lifter but all the lifters when it gets hot you hear less ,click, click just change the oil use mobil 1,, 0-40 ,,, 8 qts and drive it . you should be good jim

8.5 quarts is what the owners manual says, that's what I use. I've never had an issue with overfill or low oil issues following the owners manual. If you are going to do something different, use 8, definitely not 9.
Ticking noise, if its what I think it is, is normal.

Im sure Jim typoe'd that 9, I'd be he meant 8.
I run 8, been doing that for three Crossfires over eight years and 90,000 miles. If I put in more, I get the HIGH alarm in the curves at speed.
You can run these engines on way less than 7 quarts but not more than 8/8.5.
Think I'm nuts about that "less than 7" remark? READ your owner's manual.
NO I did NOT say to run less than 8 but the manual makes it clear that the sump can get up to two quarts low before you add oil.

You can still buy the Ownera Manual from Chrysler if you want a hard copy, the ones on eBay cost more than the Chrysler ones.
Changed oil and car sounds good. but after it warms up it will start to tick the ticking noise sounds like it is coming from valve cover area on one side and it is a light ticking noise {not a knock) and not coming from deep in engine. Gary
Most likely a partially collapsed lifter or obstructed oil passage.
The 'lifters' on these engines are in the end of the rocker arms where it contacts the valves.
driver side at 53,000 miles

If you haven't changed the oil and the filter on the recommended basis, or used non synthetic oil, then there could be some sludge buildup.
I faced this same issue in my old '89 Probe in which I hadn't used synthetics.
I had to pull the rocker arms and use a set of carb jet drills to clean out the oil passages in the rockers.
( this engine is quite similar to the crossfire engine in that it is overhead cam with 3 valves per cylinder )
That fixed it's clicking.
