Default Rear spoiler won't go up all the way!

Hey everyone, glad to be a part of the community! However, yesterday my spoiler stopped working! Well kinda.. so when I hit 65 MPH or manually open the spoiler, it only deploys a few inches. I can retract it manually, but I still get the red blinking light on the switch and the cluster beeps at me when I hit 85 MPH. The motor sounds good and healthy but once it gets to that 3rd or 4th inch outwards, it bogs down and stops. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!

Ben,

If it bogs down then it is clear - the mechanism might benefit from lubrication.

Get in there and see what you have.

Well I'd have to pull the spoiler out with my hands in that case.. it's not enough room to get under the spoiler and I don't break anything expensive... Or discontinued lol. Do you think maybe I should pull it out with my hands while someone else is manually deploy in the spoiler? For all I know, it could just be jammed with a twig or something.

Take the trim out on the inside, easy to do in the Roadster, not sure how easy it is in the coupe- but in all cases, you access the motor and mechanism from the underside.

Just thought I'd post an update! Fixed it! So it turns out that the pin that runs through the spoiler linkage and the motorized drive shaft snapped off on one side. That explains why it was opening on side and binding on the other. I basically just took a punch, knocked the old pin out and "cotter-pinned" it with some steel wiring. Works like a charm. Cheers!
