Default Autostick not working

I had to have the A/C evaporator replaced, when I got the car back the autostick is not working.
The car is drivable, shifts properly when in drive. When the shifter is in drive it is not centered in the gate, it is all the way to the right.
I can use the shift lever to shift up or down as long as I hold it centered in the gate.
As soon as I let go of the shift lever it moves all the way to the right and shifts to drive.
Tried searching but found no answers, anyone had this issue?

How many miles, sounds like it may be the transmission mount. I hope they didn't take it for a joy ride. I always record my mileage when I drop my car off for anything.

Sounds like they screwed the pooch during the evap replacement. Going back there to notify them of the problem and giving them a chance to correct the problem will tell you if you want them to fix it, or an independent MB/European car shop. Of course, the price to fix may or may not tell you if legal assistance will be needed. Good luck!

They are aware of the problem and have promised to make it right. If what is causing it is mechanical, not so bad.
If they somehow screwed up something electronic, that's a bit different. Anyone know what keeps the shift lever centered when in drive?
When its in neutral it's centered and will move left or right, in drive all the way to the right thus telling the sensor to select drive.
The sensors that tell it to shift up or down work.

Mine wouldn't work. I shift to first it would go straight to drive. I replaced transmission filter, fluid and connector plug. Now it works. Don't know if that's your problem but it worked for me. Good luck. Ive been trying to chase gremlins out of my car. So far there gone.

Stan, the choice is yours. You can help them or think this is something that just happened. IF nothing was wrong before they worked on it then I would have impressed on them to fix it. Their willingness to make it right sounds promising. Could easily be something they removed/moved out of the way during their work but I don't know what they had to do or did while they had the car. I would let them do all the 'looking into it' because everything you 'contribute' could actually be used against you later on. Let their ppl do what they research, or you might make it worse for yourself. In other words, you say it could be this, or it could be that. Or maybe you say it is this, ot that. They take your word and fix something that it isn't, do you see? No matter your actions you should not be involved except to tell them to fix the car and that's what you expect. Good luck, you may need it.
