Question Re: Alarm / anti-towing issue

Just happened for no reason that I know of, my tow away alarm keep blinking red at the switch and whenever I opened the door it would set off the outside brake lights and alarm. The problem was that I could not disarm it ( I did everything that the forum recommended with no luck) . What I did was unplug the wires to the module in the trunk. The engine still runs when turning on the ignition and the radio still works. Due I need this tow module connected ???? or can I survive without it?? Thanks for any help 1st cav

You can drive around with it disconnected, but the problem may be the siren under the windshield plastic cowl or any of the switches that set off the alarm. Did the siren sound loud when you pushed and held the red panic button on your FOB before the current problem or was it weak? If not really load, then you should disconnect the siren which is located under the black plastic cowl below the windshield. The red flashing light on the tow alarm indicates the anti-theft alarm is set. Why was it set? Do you have a coupe or a roadster?

Does the FOB lock and unlock the doors with your current setup with the anti theft alarm disconnected?
PS. I just read one of your previous posts where you removed the chip from your FOB and attached it to your key ring. Might there be a connection with this problem?

I'd tear into the trunk, take the trim out and look the CLP/SSM over - I'd bet on water damage to it.

I agree with Pizzaguy; check out the CLP/SSM in the trunk. For a work around pull fuse #9 and #26 under the hood fuse box. Those fuses powers the anti-theft system, hopefully with out power you can access the fuel door. The Fob will no longer lock/unlock the doors, but it will hopefully allow you to fuel the car until the problem is resolved.

Thanks for the reply, I was able to unlock the trunk via tripping the trunk lock then getting the gas lid unlocked.I bought a Central locking mod from Ebay, See if this will work. My biggest problem now is the key fob circuit board. ( I think that it was the problem setting off the lock/unlock and tow mod) I can't find another one to buy nor anyone to rebuild it?? ( with all the research I've spent time doing it might me easier to spend the $600 to get it from the Chrysler dealer) 1st cav
