I found this part to be the cause of the erratic climate control fan speed
When I would turn the fan speed ****, I found the speed to to be erratic. So, I took the unit apart and discovered that the shaft connected to the back of the fan control **** rotated a little variable resistor. I connected a ohm meter and turned the resistor instead of being a linear rise or fall, the needle on the ohm meter, was erratic just like the fan speed.
I think the resistor directly controls the voltage to the climate control fan. I removed and replaced the resistor with a new one on two separate units and the both worked perfectly.
Please see picture attached of the troublesome part.

I believe these are the same . Maybe someone can confirm that. If I bought 10 of them would anyone be interested in buying the extras off me . I think it would come out to about $3 each, including shipping.

Electrically, that is probably the part. There are two kinds: Linear taper and audio taper - we want linear taper. If it's an audio taper, the entire fan speed range will be in between two fan switch positions instead of five. Usually, a linear taper is assumed unless specified otherwise, hence I think it's the right part. Piher's product pages describe many such pots with a "PT1Nxx" series part number, all of them are described as "linear taper" - so I think it's the right part.
Physically, it may not quite fit, but I suspect you could spread/contract it's solder-legs and make it fit, provided the shaft from the control fits the hole in the center, and if not, a simply modification with a file may do the job. There are a handful of "PC mount pot" sizes but they don't vary by much.

I'll take one or two if there's insufficient demand by others. I can send you PayPal.
Since I already replaced the resistor pack some years ago and still have erratic behavior, it would be interesting to see if this inexpensive variable resistor is the source of the problem.

Hi, received the resistors. Have 10 available at $3 each, includes shipping to US. I have not taken my climate control apart to verify fit. Paypal email is maggy_94928@yahoo.com.
