Right Rear Making Bicycle Card Noises on Mine but different Pls Help?
We just shipped our 04 Limited coupe down to FL. Upon driving there is a noise coming from right rear area that sounds like a HEAVY card on bicycle spokes.
It does this ALL the time hot or cold from about 10 MPH up to 60 (fast as I dared take it for now) and gets progressively faster as speed is increased.
I took RR wheel off and examined all the components nothing loose amiss or rusted It continues to make same noise when brakes applied so I dont think it's that.
I can hear noise better with windows UP than down almost sounds like it's coming from behind the passenger seat?
I have swerved back and forth but no luck either.
I'm at a loss and dont want to give mechanic a blank check for this. Anyone have a clue where else to check?
Maybe wheel bearing? but car only has 34K on it and has always been garaged and driven responsibly

Try putting the rear up on jack stands and place it in gear (RUNNING BUT NO THROTTLE), another member found some kind of 'insulation' loose around the driveshaft making the same noise. Remember, DO NOT RACE OR PRESS THE THROTTLE, the excess speed can make things very expensive. Hope this helped.
.
Think it's OK to drive a little as is?
I think there's a cover over that drive shaft
I am not real comfortable doing the jackstand thing, I might take uptown let him get on a lift put in D and listen?

I think George is right, seems like someone had that cover break free and cause this.
Not really anything to worry about, IMO. Should be easy for the guy to find.
A GRINDING sound would upset me, but the sound you talk about, yea, I don't think THAT is a bearing.

I spent two hours under it couldnt find anything...
Took it uptown...guy got in and rode with me....SAID IT'S THE TIRE
Took it back...parked it...he reached in on tire and pulled out a 1/8" x 4" sliver on inner edge that was still attached
to tire that was "slapping" against something under there!!
THAT'S what was making the noise...I bought him lunch and a 12 pack and thanked him profusely
I think I just found a new mechanic...Crossfire all quieted down now and wife is happy.
