License Plate Mount fix
Should have posted this before but forgot. When I bought my 05 roadster the plastic inserts that hold the plate on were stripped.
drilled them out a little bit with a step bit to make a round hole. Then drilled to the correct size for a Riv-nut. Put some kind of paint on the raw edge, maybe a paint market.
Installed and rattle free!!

I think you're talking about the rear plate. I was considering rivet nuts, but I wanted to see what others thought about that solution.
If I go this route, should I use rivet nuts for all four places, or judt the existing holes.
Also, does anyone know how much clearance there is behind the rear license plate mounting location? I certainly would not want to drill into anything or make a hole I couldn't use.
Hopefully this posting is not too old. I hate creating new threads when others can find these easier.

I have my rear plate held with 2 screws w/ grommets but I do think there is clearance for the bottom ones
Lets see what other responses are here

Currently, there are no holes in the bottom. One of the other guys says he did his no problem.
did you use any kind of fasteners in the actual plastic such as rivet nuts? Or, like in my case, big stripped out holes in the plastic from big sheet metal screws?
I agree with using a step drill on plastic. They will not pull themselves in and crack the plastic.
My rear license plate screws were a little loose when I bought my car. I went to the local hardware store and got a little bit wider screws. I am using a plastic plate frame and only have the top screws fastened. The screws I used are almost an inch long, I was also worried about hitting something, so I put an 1.5 inch deck screw in the hole and didn't hit anything. They seem to be holding up well.

On two of my cars the mounting holes were too big and stripped. Between the outer plastic panel and the rear trim panel in the trunk is a sheet metal panel, I drilled a pilot hole for a #8 screw from the back panel thru the metal panel and remounted the license plate with screws long enough to go thru the holes in the metal panel. Easy fix, no parts and very secure.
