Unhappy ESP/BAS Light // Stalling on streets

Hello everyone,

I´ve been struggling a little with my car almost everyday from a few weeks to date. It tends to stall on the streets and the ´´ESP/BAS´´ comes up when stalls, when I press the speed pedal iut won{t respond, what I have to do is turn the car off and start up again to keep running but that does not assure me that it wont happen in the next miles to go. I´ve been registering some inputs from a couple of days trying to determine a pattern but can figure it out yet. Hope any of you could give me some feedback about this issue.

what kind of car do you have? SRT6 or Limited?
if a limited does the wing go up? Does the cruise control work?

I have a 04 limited coupe. The wing work as it should, it goes up if manually activated or automatically when reaching 60mph.

Regarding to the cruise control I´m not sure I´ve never used it before, but that´s something i can verify.

How are these functions related to this issue?

Thanks for taking a moment to respond!

Just to confirm, the crusie control works fine. It responds to all the functions pretty good.

I was thinking the possibility of a bad brake light switch as the symptoms you mentioned fit the know solution. Thing is with the cruise control working and a functioning wing it dashes my initial theory as to a bad break light switch. I needed more information than your first post provided. Thus the questions.

It would help a good deal to get a scan of the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) otherwise it's just a guess with only the info you have provided.

I'm taking a guess, but you may have a bad throttle pedal. There is a Accelerator Sensor integrated into the pedal which has in the past given some what similar symptoms. You can buy used pedals at ebay for about $80 used or $360 new. With no DTC this is only my best guess PEDAL

.
If the engine stalls, the pedal won't respond because the engine is not running. Does the pedal refuse to respond when the engine is RUNNING or just when the engine stalls? Based on your post, I think the pedal only fails when the engine stalls, that makes me think that you have an engine stalling problem that is caused by a bad Crank Position sensor, bad fuel pump, electrical disturbance that is confusing the ECU, etc.

If the engine stalls, WHAT LIGHTS come on? ONLY the BAS/ESP light or other lights as well? In my experience, a stalled engine lights the dash up with a lot of lights. The BAS/ESP light is MEANINGLESS in this case.

I believe you are using an ENglish to Spanish translation device, if so, it may be hard to communicate effectively. If needed, I think I can get the help of a Spanish speaker to help us.

RReyes read this, it sounds very similar to your problem: accelerator pedal fault
